Smilies: Vent your feelings. Do they make you happy? :) Sad? :( Confused? Terrified? Do you think we should have more, less, ones of higher graphical quality? Do you think they have any practical use? Are they part of the grand plan? Memo to self: Get a life. -------------------- Aces off. Posts: 611 | Registered: Friday, January 3 2003 08:00 |

Graemlins do serve a useful purpose. They can help show the difference serious statements and jokes and sarcasm. That said, they're also often abused like this: :P :) :( :D ;) . That makes me :o . —Alorael, who prefers just letting people puzzle through his words without the benefit of labels. When absolutely necessary, he resorts to faux tags. But even those are occasionally overdone.... [/jk jk jk jk jk jk] Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

I think we need some more. They are useful to show that you are joking about something, like Alorael said. Some of them are just plain ugly, though. This one  , for example, should look nicer. I like the ones that are animated the best. [ Monday, May 12, 2003 16:32: Message edited by: xxo ] -------------------- http://members.aol.com/risberg/blades/ Eternity approaches. Smilies/graemlins are just fun, I suppose. They are also like colorful abbreviations to things you don't feel like explaining. For example: YOU SUCK!! :P is kind of like saying: YOU SUCK! JUST KIDDING!. Of course, some people use graemlins and smilies like that just to cover up flames. Most of the better smiley's are hidden away. However, if you know where to look you can find them. [ Monday, May 12, 2003 17:47: Message edited by: Lt. Sullust ] -------------------- Lt. Sullust Cogito Ergo Sum Polaris Posts: 2462 | Registered: Wednesday, October 3 2001 07:00 |
