We have decided to no longer support Subterra and Richard White's Games anymore. Therefore we will be deleting those 2 forums in the near future (this Sunday night). If there is a community desire to back-up the discussions then we can hold off on the deletion, but please inform us by the end of this week. -Mariann Krizsan -------------------- Official Board Admin spidweb@spiderwebsoftware.com Posts: 960 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

Well, yes we do want to back it up, but yes I also think it can be done this week. --------------------------------- However, computers aren't perfect, so I encourage all who care about the forum to check these for completeness and errors: http://pied-piper.ermarian.net/forum/13 http://pied-piper.ermarian.net/forum/14 Remember: If something is missing or broken, it will take hours of effort hunting it down at Google and tedious data entry. By yours truly. If it is noticed now, while the originals are still there, it is a simple matter of giving the engine a good kick and letting it run over the forum again. --------- Also, working on getting poll results. -------------------- Encyclopaedia • Archives • Members • RSS [Topic / Forum] • Blog • Polaris • NaNoWriMo Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair. The Roost would be more than happy to open a Richard White forum, as well as a Subterra forum. If that is generally supported here, that is. If I may ask, why are you no longer supporting RW Games and SubTerra? -------------------- Born in the year 1984. War is Peace. Freedom is Slavery. Ignorance is Strength. Posts: 1186 | Registered: Friday, June 18 2004 07:00 |

Hey Mariann, can we have an open discussion as to whether I should get my mod spot back or not? I think you gave me too short of leash the time before. Posts: 455 | Registered: Tuesday, May 17 2005 07:00 |

MM, what is your opinion on the 2 to-be-deleted forums? Should they be carried over, or are they obsolete? I'm asking because I need an idea of whether i should keep duplicate boards on my forum. First version of poll result catcher done. Now, if you visit a topic at PPP that contains a poll, it will try to get the poll results page from SW. Assuming that the poll still exists, and that I voted in it (it has to log in as me to see the results after all), it will parse it correctly. I have no deleted poll or one I didn't vote in close to hand, so I haven't tested what happens. Because I'm still debugging it, right now PPP will only display the parsed poll results. For the time being this means poll topics can't be properly viewed. For an example, see this: http://pied-piper.ermarian.net/topic/1/4327 -------------------- Encyclopaedia • Archives • Members • RSS [Topic / Forum] • Blog • Polaris • NaNoWriMo Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair. I think Spidweb should do whatever they want with the boards. If they want to delete them, go ahead. I don't post in either forum anyways. Posts: 455 | Registered: Tuesday, May 17 2005 07:00 |

Ah. Would a lot of people be? quote:Surely it is. wordpress.com's server must suffer from a hiccup, because it displays for me. Keep in mind that the URLs in the post are all the same, and thus if the pictures work here, they work there. I will miss these two boards, but I'm in no hurry to join an imitation. Did it work for Misc? No. Many times over. And Misc actually had a community. It was even more vibrant and spontaneous than General with its lax moderation. So will it work for RWG or SubTerra, where the simple act of posting is a parody on forums and games? Realize there is nothing about RWG except its aura, and this aura hinges on it being here, being forum #13 and being an official forum for games that few people have ever heard of. It is defined by being a board that is not supposed to exist. Any imitation you create necessarily loses this and is left with nothing but the name. Don't try to build a replica of R'lyeh in your backyard, that's all I'm saying. :P [ Wednesday, June 13, 2007 16:37: Message edited by: jg.faust ] -------------------- Encyclopaedia • Archives • Members • RSS [Topic / Forum] • Blog • Polaris • NaNoWriMo Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair. If a lot of people liked the games and posted in the forums, I'm simply providing a place for them to continue the forums, in some way, shape, or form. -------------------- You Shall Die Laughing: http://www.worfthecat.ermarian.net/converted The Roost: www.roost01.proboards104.com. Posting in those forums was nearly independent of having played the actual games. You wouldn't be carrying over players and discussions, you'd be attracting spam; and definitely some of it would be unwanted and idiotic. -------------------- It's only an eye, my lord. The deletion is driving the wrath of Richerd White...but if Sarasaphilia opens a forum at The Roost then maybe the wrath would slow down... I am assuming that that was to Sarasaphilia? Edit -the forums that die here, spawn at the Roost. I think the point of posting in those forums would be made further moot by the fact that (I believe) Jeff will no longer be offering those games for sale at all. So you would be hosting forums for games that no longer are available. Furthermore, everyone knows that all true followers of His Whiteness reside here, and though they take our foral home, they cannot crush us! Pan lever. Well, duh. If you edit a post, how's the bot supposed to notice without re-spidering the entire board? What it stores is the last version of the topic after someone posted, of course. -------------------- Encyclopaedia • Archives • Members • RSS [Topic / Forum] • Blog • Polaris • NaNoWriMo Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair.
