I was just wondering if it would be at all possible to write the code to put an Exile game on something as small as a PSP. It would be pretty cool.

Possible, yes. Economically feasible, no.

However, as you might have noticed, BoE has recently been released as open source. We may be seeing that ported to a few systems at some point.

Eh, but the PSP? Really? Why bother?

It would be kinda neat, if someone had the skill and the time, to rewrite enough of BoE's code so that it would run on just about anything.

Sure. Aran, you do the Java port, while I'll be working on the Perl port. I can get someone I know to do the Prolog port.

If there's a Java Port, I'll need a copy of the source.

On a more related note, Nintendo DS. That's where an Exile or Avernum port should go.

Good. I need a Java port of BoE, cause I don't know crap about any languages other than BASIC and Java.

Seriously though, aside from me, who here actually messes with Java?!

I do. Besides PHP, it's the only language I know (although I have been picking up Hello-World basics in C++).

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind writing a new game in Java. But I can imagine more fruitful things to do than essentially rewriting a whole program in another language just for kicks. :P

Avernum could possibly make it to DS. I can picture that.

Ah, the DS. Now that's more viable.

Or just use a Win32 emulator on the PSP.

I wish Avernum to remain in the confines of my Mac. I prefer to be stationary when enjoying my games.

You can stay in one spot and still play on a handheld game system. :P

I work with Java. Swing, at the moment. It's very intuitive, once you know how it works. ;)

Heresy. No one uses the vile Java... even though, I'm probably gonna play with it some over the summer cause I'll probly have nothing better to do.
