Uhg, you really are one of them. Just when I was starting to think I could trust you, you turn around and sink to their level with all the smileys, lame jokes and meta-posting. I am sorely disappointed. It's almost as if your account was hacked into by Alorael or something.

Dang. Ya know, if I was the Pope I would make everyone (except Mongolians) give up smilies for Lent.

Come on Salmon, be a little more original. Anyone on this entire board could say that to anyone else on this entire board at any time. You could even replace the word 'board' with 'internet' for that matter... or 'world'. You're just mad because you fit the mold just like all the others.

Yeah, well despite protestions of my conformity, I'm third on the list. Not too shabby for a newbie spammer, neh?

Normally I consider it extremely petty when people point out each other's typos, but this one just threw me off completely.

Have you not noticed that the inscrutable and inimitable Salmon is mind-blowingly unique?

I had difficulty comingling Protestant with protestation. No apologies though, it's nice to see you admit to being thrown.

Only you would try to commingle two words with the same damn root meaning. Unique alright... in the worst possible way.

Problem? You spelled commingling wrong, not me. And what do you have against 'alright'?

Hey, I resent that! I never use smileys.

—Alorael, who believes the status of alright as a full-fledged word is still debated. But that's all right.

"alright, a frequent spelling of all right.

1893 Durham Univ. Jrnl. Nov. 186, I think I shall pass alright. 1897 Westm. Gaz. 16 Dec. 9/3 Witness said, ‘Alright, come along.’ 1924 H. W. Fowler in S.P.E. Tract XVIII. 1 (subtitle) Open Court on ‘Alright’. 1925 Marquess Curzon in Marq. of Zetland Life (1928) III. 378, I am sure I shall get through alright. 1926 H. W. Fowler Mod. Eng. Usage 16/1 There are no such forms as all-right, allright, or alright, though even the last, if seldom allowed by the compositors to appear in print, is often seen..in MS."

If a word has been around for >100 years, I'd say it's probably alright.

I was taught in school that "alright" was the correct form and "all right" was wrong. So at least in Commonwealth English, "alright" has wide acceptance.

You know, this is why classical Latin will never receive widespread acceptance. :P

Too many posts.

Too few words.

Too little content.

[Edit: Too many errors.]

—Alorael, who urges you to try harder. Go on, be creative. Come up with a new gimmick so brilliant it wins even Alec's gruding respect!

I endeavor to embrace the aesthetic that

l e s s

is more .

Any resemblance to gimmickry herein is the consequence of self-indulgent fleeting fixation.

An experiment.
An exercise.
A failed exorcism

for an irrepressible and perpetually morphing penchant for word abusage.

If my word falls in the forest and no one hears it, it still makes ripples in my brain.
