So, this is sort of an E/A 2 question, but I think it fits better in this forum. I was searching my text dumps when I came across the following line, which appears in both games' dumps: "The turgid fleshy sex drones of Almaria sweep down upon you, hauling you away to pleasure-soaked realms beyond human comprehension. You immediately forget about Exile and its troubles, and well you should!" "The turgid, fleshy, sex-drones of Almaria sweep down upon you, hauling you away to pleasure-soaked realms beyond human comprehension. You immediately forget about Avernum and its troubles, and well you should!" Somehow I think I would have remembered this if I'd encountered it in the game. Does anyone know what the heck this is from? It was updated in A2, so it can't just be a weird artifact... -------------------- Slarty vs. Desk • Desk vs. Slarty • Timeline of Ermarian • G4 Strategy Central Posts: 3560 | Registered: Wednesday, November 7 2001 08:00 |

Sounds like evidence of Vogelmort's dirty mind. This could cause a scandal like the hot coffee mod for GTA San Andreas. :P [ Monday, October 16, 2006 06:55: Message edited by: Tyranicus. ] -------------------- "Tyranicus is about the only one that still posts in the Nethergate Forum." —Randomizer Spiderweb Chat Room Shadow Vale - My site, home of the Spiderweb Chat Database, BoA Scenario Database, & the A1 Quest List, among other things. Not nearly as good as Anaximander's salute to the E3 heroes. Still, the reason it appeared in both may be because Jeff forgot about it, and just used a search and replace to change "Exile" to "Avernum" in the text. -------------------- And when you want to Live How do you start? Unless Jeff also employed a very sophisticated comma- and hyphen-inserting mechanism -- which he didn't -- the lines must have been edited by hand. I didn't notice that... Darn my inability to actually read things properly. Slarty, do you have Anaximander's famous last speech? -------------------- And when you want to Live How do you start? It's funny that the comma insertions still aren't quite right. There should be one and only one comma between turgid and fleshy. I think we can see that Jeff still likes his old jokes. —Alorael, thinks it's also a new discovery, and it's even better than Anaximander no matter how well developed he may be. So my question is, will that actually pop up in the game anyhow, or was it just an easter egg STR# back in the day? The other one is: "Anaximander unzips his robe and steps from it. His body is much better developed than you would have thought. The reward for your long, hard adventures is at hand!" -------------------- Slarty vs. Desk • Desk vs. Slarty • Timeline of Ermarian • G4 Strategy Central Posts: 3560 | Registered: Wednesday, November 7 2001 08:00 |

It's not new, it came up in the Anaximander thread (which I started) on General on the spidweb ikonboards. -------------------- "At times discretion should be thrown aside, and with the foolish we should play the fool." - Menander ==== Drakefyre's Demesne - Happy Happy Joy Joy Encyclopedia Ermariana - Trapped in the Closet ==== You can take my Mac when you pry my cold, dead fingers off the mouse! I definitely remember playing an Exile demo about a decade ago, and it definitely had a brothel in the first town. I remember no such things appearing in Avernum, easter eggs or not. ...that said, I wish I'd managed to trigger them. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. It might be something where the link that call for the text was deleted or altered but the text was left in during a script revision. Still I never saw it playing either game and I was pretty thorough about going and talking to people. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Exile 2/Avernum 2, actually: "You rapidly convert to Catholicism. The demons flee in horror." ...a brothel, Ephesos? In Fort Exile? Are you sure about that? I need to read the scrip files more often. I never heard about that whole Anaxamander thing. That's not really what I'd want after all that adventuring. -------------------- You acquire an item: Radio Free Foil Posts: 1169 | Registered: Monday, September 23 2002 07:00 |

I don't remember a brothel. I always love when people discover these sort of things in the games. :D Also I remember hearing about some special place that could only be visited if you wore pants in E3. But that was actually in the game wasn't it? -------------------- Milla-Displacer Beastie This is also a good site Posts: 650 | Registered: Thursday, October 4 2001 07:00 |
