It's not much more than mutual belligerence, nuclear threats and provocation at this point, but then that's what the Cold War was. -- Anyway, Imbanophobia once went under the name "JadeWolf", Alec. I thought it wasn't necessary. It wasn't subtle to begin with, but I thought quotation marks would be much worse. [ Monday, April 17, 2006 22:24: Message edited by: stranger ] -------------------- DONOR Fat Freddys Drop Shirow Miwa Posts: 1112 | Registered: Friday, July 19 2002 07:00 |

Pretty much. My house is out in the country so it's ideal for that. For the more legal drinking binges it's their flat. What fun. Speaking of studying there was a police raid down the road the other day, apparently there was 1600 plants worth of studying down there. I probably wont be seeing those guys for a few years. I get the pineapple wars...yippee! For those anti-american fruit haters I say first pineapples next bananas. In the Caribbean bananas are grown on small plantations while in S.A. they are grown on huge plantations controlled by....US-owned transnational banana companies like Chiquita, Dole and Del Monte. Trade rules and quotas used to protect these small colonies (by providing guaranteed access to European markets) but no more. The US has argued that the protection extended to these ex-colonies was discriminatory. It has browbeaten the European Union since the early Nineties into progressively opening up its market to imports of intensively produced bananas from Latin and Central America, nicknamed ‘dollar’ bananas because production there is controlled by powerful US companies. See, the U.S. is a friendly superpower, not interested in starting a war to extend its dominance. IF it can, it uses tough trade policies to avoid having to take over countries it doesn't want. -------------------- "Dikiyoba ... is demon ... drives people mad and ... do all sorts of strange things." The real question is who will get the Nintendo-Sega wars? (Sega is after all of American origin, if you go back far enough.) -------------------- Slarty vs. Desk • Desk vs. Slarty • Timeline of Ermarian • G4 Strategy Central Posts: 3560 | Registered: Wednesday, November 7 2001 08:00 |

(Reads the Canada posts.) Grr. Half of Maine SHOULD be ours. Washington and Oregon SHOULD be ours. The Alaskan Panhandle WOULD have been ours, if the BLOODY Brits hadn't sided with the people WHO HAD REBELLED AGAINST THEM instead of THEIR OWN COLONY! Ever wonder WHY the White House is painted white? (Breathes heavily for a moment, then calms down.) That said, sign me up. Oh, and Canadian Bacon was awesome. Too bad half the jokes went over my head. :) (Why is that so funny? It's only natural that they have it in both English and Quebecois.). -------------------- IF I EVER BECOME AN EVIL OVERLORD: I will not use any plan in which the final step is horribly complicated, e.g. "Align the 12 Stones of Power on the sacred altar then activate the medallion at the moment of total eclipse." Instead it will be more along the lines of "Push the button." Posts: 1509 | Registered: Tuesday, January 10 2006 08:00 |

Originally by Dintiradan: quote:I don't really care about Maine. Or Alaska. Or even Washington. You can claim them as part of your scheme to become Evil Overlord. But should you try to take over Oregon, Dikiyoba will be forced to stop you. Dikiyoba already has claim to it. You just don't know it yet. Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

I will be content with the Civil Rights Movement until such time as I can think of something better. Edit: Actually, if anyone should get the Oregon Treaty (which annexed OR and WA to the US), it should be me! 54°40' OR FIGHT! - Jeff Vogel [ Tuesday, April 18, 2006 11:24: Message edited by: Spidweb ] -------------------- Official Board Admin spidweb@spiderwebsoftware.com Posts: 960 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

quote:Well, as Slarty said - treaties are a bit of the opposite idea here. ;) And I think the Oregon treaty is actually covered fairly well by the one for Canada (although had I expected you to post here, I probably would have saved the country for you anyhow - no one has written quite so eloquently about the subject of annexing the country as the man who proposed turning Quebec into a gigantic mass of humanoid protoplasm) anyhow. But thank you for your participation - I am supremely honored. (As one purveyor of chillingly inhuman mendacity to another, you understand. (Oh, and once the kids are old enough for MTV to raise, come back to the Scorched Earth Party. It misses you.)) Now, to get on the two-page backlog. :( I have well and truly shot myself in the foot here, offering mostly anti-American morsels to all comers! I had not expected so many comers. And I'd delegate some to TM, but, uh, he's slightly less tactful than I. :P (EDIT: Aran or someone with a similar prurient interest in this: could you helpfully rustle up a list of people without any avatar as yet, or who have only self-declared? Oh, and to self-declarers: I am capricious, like the United States itself, or perhaps Stareye - ask for a conflict and you're almost certain not to get it out of spite. Although I make an exception if it makes sense. Infernal being the only Israeli here I'm aware of - and a real sweetheart, insomuch as she asked nicely and gave me options - got Israel. Let that be a lesson to you.) [ Tuesday, April 18, 2006 21:40: Message edited by: The Worst Man Ever ] Posts: 794 | Registered: Tuesday, October 11 2005 07:00 |

I'll do one better and make a list of all people and their avatars (or lack thereof). :) Members are called by the name by which I remember them. The link on the name is to the first post of that person in the thread (the implicit request), by which they are apparently ordered. The link on the country is to Alec's post. Imban - The Indian Wars stranger - The Mexican-American War FBM - The Quasi War Stew Boy - The Spanish-American War TM - World War II (Pacific) Ephesos - Guatemala Tyranicus - Iran Thuryl - Canada Salmon - China Croikle - Venezuela Dolphin - Congo/Kinshasa Jeff Vogel (no request) - The Civil Rights Movement Inthrall - Chile MagmaDragoon - Antarctica Kingy - The War on Drugs Spring - World War I Wonko - The Phillipine Insurrection Arancaytar - World War II (Europe) Slartucker - Cuba Infernal - Israel (posted out of order) Sullust - Grenada Riibu - Finland JadeWolf - The Iran-Iraq War Fatman - Hawaii [some squabbling] Marlenny - Nicaragua Erika - Hungary Student of Trinity - Dikiyoba - [some discussion] Demonslayer (now dXs) - Goldenking - [and finally we get to the assignments for the last page or more] Lenar Labs - Not I - Ben - Ash Lael - wz. Arsenic - Smuggler - Order Mage - Dintiradan - (did this by chronologically going through the thread, listing everyone who posted - distinctly - and adding the country next to them once I got to Alec's response. If any end up with nothing next to them, I missed Alec's post or they didn't get anything yet) [ Tuesday, April 18, 2006 22:26: Message edited by: Kuranes- ] -------------------- Encyclopaedia Ermariana • Forum Archives • Forum Statistics • RSS [Topic / Forum] My Blog • Polaris • I eat novels for breakfast.
