quote:That's true, but if you have a decent popup blocker, you never have to see the popup ads. Firefox has a pretty good blocker built-in to the program. Ad-blockers are less reliable, so I would say go with the popup, since it should be blocked easily. -------------------- "You're drinking liquor because you're thirsty? Pop-ups canbe killed by a pop-up killer, or can be clicked away, so that you have a clean website. Other ads are in the website itself, and seem to annoy me. But again, taste and preference are the keywords. -------------------- There are 400 words in the dictionary that begin with "self" and only 8 that begin with "fellow". When in doubt. . . mumble. I already hoped that wuld be the reaction, becasue I'm thinking of going to another provider, who is a lot cheaper if I would want the ads removed than Angelfire is. At the moment I'm mainly inquiring to see where there web hosts who have pop-ups and no ads at the top and bottom of te page. I hope there is a webhost who only has pop-ups, and is not to expensive (that is not over $4,95) when signing up for a ad/pop-up-free website. -------------------- Play and rate my scenarios: Where the rivers meet View my upcoming scenario: The Nephil Search: Escape. I haven't checked this thoroughly, but it looks encouraging and comes without pop-ups/ads. Hostdepartment.com -------------------- Polaris Rache's A3 Site reformatted 2/3 done Rache's A3 Site, original version Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |

Just erase all that gunky fabricated code and type: <img src="nephilian_verbal_group.jpg" width="423" height="141" border="0"> Make sure the image is uploaded in the same directory as the page that displays the image and rename the image file to nephilian_verbal_group and make sure it's a .jpg file. Underscores are a lot better than spaces, which get translated to %20 and don't look as good. EDIT: This, of course, if your image does not yet work. Geocities has ads on the right side. If you want an ad free site they charge $4.95/mo. for 500MB of space but I don't think you'd need more then the 15MB with the free site. TMU has them if you want to see what it looks like. I used to but needed more space for the graphics archive. -------------------- Forever Always on Past the End TrueSite for Blades - Blades Walkthroughs Pixle Profusion - BoE Graphics Archive Posts: 563 | Registered: Tuesday, July 27 2004 07:00 |

quote:It already worked, but thanks anyway. However, this wouldn't have worked either. beleive me, I tried it. The problem was that one can't have space in the name of the image. I removed the spaces, in it worked fine. The main reason I went to 50megs.com, is, if I would want the ads and pop-ups removed, It will only cost $3,99 to get also the fullpacket of options. I get 50 megs of disk storage 9already with a free acount) and 2 giga's of bandwith. What else would I want? Sigh. I could have waitd for such remarks. I always see that on this forum. Some people (like Snafta) answer to the question, others don't say a thing, they just... It does look much better. One thing I would suggest, though, is changing from frames to tables, but that's only minor. -------------------- "At times discretion should be thrown aside, and with the foolish we should play the fool." - Menander ==== Drakefyre's Demesne - Happy Happy Joy Joy Encyclopedia Ermariana - Trapped in the Closet ==== You can take my Mac when you pry my cold, dead fingers off the mouse! quote:Frames have this way of saving the web designer work... although they can be very annoying when used improperly. The Encyclopedia was framed for two years before I moved it to MediaWiki. The design is more flexible as it is more normalized (ie, no duplicate information that needs to be changed on all pages whenever you modify the menu). -------------------- Encyclopaedia Ermariana • Forum Archives • Forum Statistics • RSS [Topic / Forum] My Blog • Polaris • I eat novels for breakfast. Frames ar very handy in my opinion. the only problem is when the banners and ads turn up and screw everything up. And they indeed save me work, although I like the way you did that with your own page, Drakefyre. -------------------- Play and rate my scenarios: Where the rivers meet View my upcoming scenario: The Nephil Search: Escape. Very nice, Thralni. I like the new color scheme, it's much easier to navigate now. -------------------- Slarty vs. Desk • Desk vs. Slarty • Timeline of Ermarian • G4 Strategy Central Posts: 3560 | Registered: Wednesday, November 7 2001 08:00 |
