Here are some personal preferences: Avernum 3 good points: better graphics; in 3D (which means it has heights); Nicer special effects (for as far as I remember). bad points: can't think of any at the moment. exile 3 good points: Some people say you fely more like you were right there, fighting together with your party. I never felt that, but maybe you do. bad points: I hate the graphics; very static, if you understand what I mean; it's 2D, which isn't that bad, but I do appreciate the 3D environment of Avernum 3. -------------------- Play and rate my scenarios: Where the rivers meet View my upcoming scenario: The Nephil Search: Escape. Avernum isn't 3D, it's isometric. Also, I hate Avernum's graphics. I like Exile's graphics, personally. It's a matter of preference, really. I vote E3. EDIT: Actually, if you get E3, you should get the bundle with E1, 2, and 3 for only $45. That's a $30 savings over buying them separately. I like the Exile 3 graphics better as well. There are no hills to obscure your view. I like the Exile 3 inventory system better too, but there are nefarious reasons behind that. I've always heard that the Avernum games actually included a few extra quests that weren't present in the Exile series. In any case, the argument for Exile 3 vs. Avernum 3 seems to depend on which you played first. If you don't think there's something terribly wrong with A3, though, you should probably get that one simply because it's newer. ;) Oh, and are we to assume that you've already played the earlier ones? Buy Exile III. It's much more classic-looking without being too confusing or archaic. It's kind of more pleasantly traditional, and gives more the impression of the medieval environment it's kind of based after. I also recommend BoE. Excellent value, that BoE. Hundreds of scenarios, many of at least decent quality, several of truly excellent quality. Some are full-length epic adventures, while some are short and sweet.
