Basically its other people's rating of you. You can also rate others, according to this system:

1 star - Evil Priest
2 stars - Dirty
3 stars - Clean
4 stars - High Priest
5 stars - Saint

Well, it isn't really better, in that high karma doesn't let you do anything special and most people generally ignore it anyway.

Is it? I've always been rather proud of my own 2 stars. It means I'm getting through. Essentially if enough people really dislike you, you'll have a score on the lower side. If very few people have anything to say against you you'll get a 4 or 5. And each rating you get is worth significantly less than the one before it. If it bothers you, you can turn it off in your profile. Otherwise it's best ignored.

I suppose Thuryl is right.

I've been wondering: If you turn the rating off on your profile, then turn it back on, will you have the same amount of stars, or will it be reset?

EDIT: Don't worry, I just checked. It stays the same; it doesn't get reset.

True, We all admire and look foward to your posts, yet your karma has a lot to do with the fact that you are a very loved SW member.

I was first rated 5 stars, you know. A couple of ratings after that were also five. Then one day I noticed it had gone down a bit. It still showed 5 stars, but the actual rating was only 4. something. I was so sad. :( And nowadays it's even lower! Why won't you love me?

My rating has gone from 1-5 in a matter of days. Then it goes back down, then back up.

Karma? Phhfffff!

Me = "Republican fundamentalist" = low karma. That's pretty much how it goes.

I'd just like to remind everyone that all who post in this thread will likely see their karma suffer for it (though not by me).

By clicking on the 'Karma' link below people's PDN, you can rate them there. Or if you have already rated them, you can see what level you rated them (1-5 stars). Looking at Ben's, I just noticed that I rated him 5 stars. I want to change it.

EDIT: Turns out there is only one person who I didn't rate 5 stars that has posted in this topic...

No, not you. For some strange reason I gave you 5 stars.

I will give you a bit more information: The person I gave one star is not a newbie.

The few that have given me 5 stars is what is keeping my karma above 1 star. It was right there for the longest time.

More like You = "Ignoramus who repeatedly ignores what anyone has to say", but if the martyrdom act works for you, who am I to disagree?

Personality is a bigger factor than politics, I'd suggest. Speaking as a fellow right-wing fundie, y'know.

Eh, you're not particularly right-wing, inasmuch as you don't believe in replacing taxation with tithing.

All relative. I expect by US standards, we're all a bunch of commies.

Tithing supports the churches, which taxation does not support.

Or perhaps as though somewhere along the line a key piece of communication was not transmitted.

—Alorael, who sort of believes the key to having good karma is never to post anything with an opinion. Maybe that's the key, anyway. It's possible that holding firm views works too.
