I'd probably play too, depending on how much the cost to play was. However, I would really hate to see what kind of PKing would go on in the world of Avernum. It is possible to design a MMORPG with player created maps and player created graphics, but Jeff has said he would not do this. In fact, it would not be that hard to put together something with a variety of races and a point system for leveling. If someone wanted to license the the Avernum engine and pay Jeff for it, it might be another story. I am not sure what Jeff would say about licensing Avernum for a MMORPG. -------------------- Wasting your time and mine looking for a good laugh. Every time this topic reappears, it gets shorter and shorter. You'd think people would catch on... My own opinion: I think it'd be great if someone developed the game beyond Jeff's ability via a license. The problem would perhaps be distortion of feel/atmosphere. I think if that happened, it would threaten to become a crappy hack n slash with spells. I would love it to become a massive immersive experience, the problem is how to make it so. All the pros would just slaugter all the newbies,and those poor beginners would never advance in strength without cheating. And it would have to have a new interface, new, more complicated scripting, it would probably take years to make, and would probably not be as popular as the other Avernum games. So I am sure that it will never happen. -------------------- How many shapers are there? Why is Drypeak controlled by Zakary? Why is Barzahl a Guardian? How does the Geneforge work?
