Ok, I know where the door is to the third trial, in the catacombs outside Ft. Dranlon, no prob there, but how do I get in? The door is locked, no spells open it, and says I do not have the key. Where is the key? How do I get in? I have already done all the quests, and side quests from every fort in the Eastern Gallery, ready now to move on to Mertis, but want to go thru the third trial first. Any ideas?

Where is that body, that has the letter for Giscard, in order to get the gremlin wine quest? I looked all over the eastern gallery, cannot find it, and no where in the handbook. Anyone know where it is?

Nope...they are not there. I even did the little cheat that shows everyone....and checked out every blue dot on the map, both in and outside of Mertis and East Mertis. All are farmers, merchants, or guards. Sigh.

Um...if I am in the right place, based on your instructions....the northwest passage leads to a locked door...I cannot open it. I do see something is behind it, I go upside, and do not see another way down on that side...so, where is the test?

Actually, the original question was about where Hosharr was. This is the main problem I (and from some of the posts I am seeing) have with this new Avernum. The book is unbelievably vague. Example, the books says the third test is "northeast of Dranlon". Oh boy oh boy. Yeah, right. More like go-northeast-to-abandon-building-go-downstairs-to-caves-go-yaddaydaddadoodledee-north-yaddayeadda-south-doodledeedo-northwestsoutheast-to-impossible-place-yaddayadda......" The same with other quests. And, you can't find anyone anywhere, no matter how many times you circle, jump, delve.....

Guys, you really really need to re-do this game. It has a lot of potential...but its just too confusing. Or, at least make the book a little more clear. I swear, the other Avernum games were NOT this vague. Come on, people! I am college educated, but I am NOT Stephen Hawking, ok?

Ok. I do like most of this new Avernum. I admit not having the Editor is a downstrike. But, they give directions in the book, but they are not clear, I run all over the place, clear every tunnel, corridor, and break into every building....sigh.

I STILL can't find "Maxwell of Mertis" for the Icy Geodes, or Vorhees for the message. Mertis is like, 6 buildings, not even a real town, and the only things around it are the Honeycomb, and the Spiral, with the odd family home. That's it. They are nowhere in Mertis, East Mertis or anywhere near. And, yes, I also looked south, and all I can find is the tower and a few tunnels. So, you will forgive me for my impatience, but it takes the fun out of the game if you have me running around in places I've already been, looking for some stupid person for some stupid quest. Sorry but this is getting old.

So, where are they? (going off for awhile to just kill something.)

Hunting Hosharr.....book says he is in Honeycomb, at "F" on the World Map 2.....which is north of Silvar, between Formello and Fort Draco, right? But, Awrmm in Silver says "...he is in Honeycomb, south of here." So, I am a bit confused, because I go to F on world map 2, (between Formello and Ft. Draco), but can find no sign of this dude. Any clues?

The building is empty. I checked all the buildings there, one has that guy armorer, the other Redd the merchant, and all the other people are either merchants or caravan guards, who won't talk. So, where is she? (She's the one you have to give Grobb's tools to.)

Ok, so I got the papers from the abandonded fort, went back to "Jaen" and then went back to Liam and attempted to talk to Canizares. He still is trying to give me the mission to get the papers, its like I never did it to begin with. Am I stuck in some kind of loop? He doesn't acknowlege I did the mission even tho I have the papers in my possession. So, I can't get the next mission. What's up?

I took my group into the high party editor, and none of the shops had any items to buy!!! I had downloaded the program, checked the READ ME, it said to simply put it in my BoA scenario folder, which I did, and that's it. So, why aren't there any items in the shops area? (oh, and yes, I did click on the shop keepers, to "talk" to them, and each window where you usually see the list of stuff you can buy, was blank. No items in any of the shops at all)

Harry Potter in General

I am almost 40 years old, (this Sept.), and I have always enjoyed the Harry Potter Series.

It fosters imagination (which is in precious little supply in children theses days), and a sense of the fantastic, as well as encouraging reading in general, as opposed to video games.

Not that there is anything wrong with video games, I am a gamer meself, and also have very large comic, manga, anime, and cartoon collections. Hehe, I will never grow up!!

For those who wish to read Satanic and/or Evil things into HP, I pity their children. They will never know the wonder and joy of true childhood, filled with faeries, rockets to the moon, and adventures to other lands. Pity, indeed.

But, in answer to the original question, yes, I like Harry Potter, and have already purchased the book, just waiting for publication date. And yes, I will be going to see the movie too. Just like I did for Star Wars (since 1977 fan), LoR (big fan of the original animated forms as well as the books), and many other fun movies that allow me to dream!!!

Ok, I just got the quest from Striker to do in Jaen. Now, I notice on the map there are a couple of secret passages from some of the rooms....but I cannot get to them. I am standing right at the place the secret passage is, but it won't open. I tried from both ends when available.

And, do we ever get into the labs? If not, then why bother to put them on the map, with letters indicating areas? Just a question. Thanks.
