But that's not mandatory, right? (What do you have to do to get it, if you want it?) Posts: 20 | Registered: Wednesday, June 20 2007 07:00 |

Thanks, Randomizer. You've been especially helpful with all these questions. I loved these games, and I'm embarrassed how much I've forgotten about the details. But my dad's having a great time with them. They're well suited to his style because they're turn-based. He can stop and think about things as long as he needs, and save any time he wants. He really likes solving problems efficiently and hates making mistakes. He's a retired math professor, which explains a lot. What I loved about the games so much was the humorous touches. Like all the guys named Provisioner in Exile III, and the one doom-filled part in Exile I(?) where instead of OK you just click Die. I'm a longtime fan of the Scorched Earth Party website, too. These are such great games. Posts: 20 | Registered: Wednesday, June 20 2007 07:00 |

P.S. I know you don't _have_ to finish Kriszan to win, but my dad and I are perfectionists and want to complete all the major quests. :) Posts: 20 | Registered: Wednesday, June 20 2007 07:00 |

Hey, all. My dad is starting Exile III and the new time element is stressing him out. He says he always feels like he's supposed to be moving faster and be places sooner. I would like to reassure him that he'll be fine. Can you guys help me remember what elements occur that relate to the number of days passing? The thing I remember is that Krizsan gets destroyed if you take too long with the slimes. Can anyone tell me what triggers the start of that destruction, and how long you have to finish the quest before it's lost? (I remember this because I hosed it up when I played, and got so mad I quit for a while). I also remember Anaximander calling you back on certain days, but as I recall those were things I was well geared up to handle by then. Are there other things? I want to be able to tell my dad something like, "Relax about time, but once you visit Place Y, you need to go deal with the slimes in X days. Other than that don't even worry." Thanks. Hi! Two questions from my dad, and I can't remember the answers myself. 1. I want to return the amber lizard charm to the Sliths, but I cannot find the cave (supposedly north of Gnass) in which it is located. Where is it? 2. Is there any way to obtain the control sequence for the control panel in the ice hydra dungeon in Vahnatai land? Thanks, everyone! Posts: 20 | Registered: Wednesday, June 20 2007 07:00 |

Hi! I'm back. My dad loved Exile I and now he's playing Exile II. A few questions I can't find in the walkthrough--does anyone remember these? These are all from the first area, before leaving for the Vahnatai lands. 1. There's a cave in the southwest by the Empire post. He needs a password to get in. I think I found the actual password in a walkthrough--but where is he supposed to learn it in game? 2. There's some village(?) north of Motrax but southwest of the lizard cave. The annotated map isn't helping me. Anyway, he thinks there's a secret door and he can't find it. Anyone know what this is? 3. He doesn't need anything from Motrax before leaving for Vahnatai lands--is that right? Thanks. Posts: 20 | Registered: Wednesday, June 20 2007 07:00 |

We'll worry about that when we get there. My dad reports that he successfully found the slith tome and the onyx key. Hooray! Thank you. Posts: 20 | Registered: Wednesday, June 20 2007 07:00 |

Thanks. He couldn't find the key there either... it's frustrating, because I'm not there to see what he's doing. It could be something as simple as not realizing bookshelves are searchable (although he knows that now--I told him.) He's just retired and he's really liking the game, but he's getting terribly frustrated by Exile. And I'm getting frustrated because the walkthroughs are incomplete. Hey all. My dad is having trouble in Swamp City and I can't remember exactly what to do. He is looking for the Onyx Key and the Slith Tome, which the walkthrough says are in the brownish rooms to the northeast. He says he's been through them all, using Magic Map, and still can't find what he's looking for. Can anyone remind me specifically where these two items are? Is there a bookshelf to search or something? My dad is really frustrated, and I am too because I can't figure out why things aren't where I remember them being. :( We had to use the editor to fix the spider problem. Please help... Correction--I'm not sure that Captain Johnson gives that mission. I think it might be another mission... it's the one with a prisoner named Daniel, my dad says. Posts: 20 | Registered: Wednesday, June 20 2007 07:00 |

Hi again. I haven't played in a long time, and I don't remember Exile as well as I should. The walkthrough isn't helping because it's not specific enough. Can anyone help with these two questions? 1. In Fort Duvno, Capt. Johnson tells you about a mission to free some prisoners. My dad says he sees the prisoner Daniel in the fort, but can't seem to free him. Every time he goes back there, Daniel is still there. Is there a trigger word needed to free Daniel? 2. My dad freed the spider from Aranea City. Then he found the talking spiders and asked for "mission". He got the mission to free the spider, which he'd already done. How does he trigger the opening of the webs to the north? Does he have to free the spider again? Or does he have to say the right trigger word to the talking spiders? He says he accidentally shot some of them before he realized they were friendly, but he left and came back again so they should be okay now (right?) Thanks very much. Also, if anyone knows of a very specific, thorough walkthrough, please point me there. Posts: 20 | Registered: Wednesday, June 20 2007 07:00 |

Okay, so dropping the flying orb is on the list. Anything else I should warn my dad about? I think he'll relax and enjoy the game more if he isn't so worried about screwing it up. Posts: 20 | Registered: Wednesday, June 20 2007 07:00 |

I'm specifically asking for help with Exile 1 right now. So, attacking friendly NPCs goes on the list. Anything else? Which items can be dropped and lost that would ruin a game? Posts: 20 | Registered: Wednesday, June 20 2007 07:00 |

Hi all! I first played Exile a number of years ago and I loved it. Now my dad is playing it through, on my recommendation. When I told him there were a few game-dooming mistakes, he got really nervous about screwing up his game. So I'd like to give him a list of game-dooming mistakes. I'm not talking about completely obvious ones like attacking King Micah, or flying into a pit and dying instantly. I'm talking about the ones that will screw up your game and you won't know until hours (or days) later. Can anyone add to this list? --Killing a dragon (before you get whatever useful thing it has). Obviously Pyrog is an exception. --Dropping the flying orb somewhere in the wild (can you do this?) --Using Word of Recall and stranding all your boats on the other side of the river (is Word of Recall even in Exile 1, or is it in later games?) Thanks all. Posts: 20 | Registered: Wednesday, June 20 2007 07:00 |
