Just beat the game... Parry was 19 and dex was 11... couldn't avoid the blasts.. had to use shielding/speed/reloading... Beat the game at level 41. Minor spoilers: You cannot reach the door in the shades patrol right? Posts: 71 | Registered: Monday, September 19 2005 07:00 |

In Geneforge 2 I am playing a Guardian. I am fairly near to the end of the game and I am having trouble with magical enemies like the gazers... I cannot seem to block their magic... which skill should I raise to dodge/block magical attacks? Posts: 71 | Registered: Monday, September 19 2005 07:00 |

and I am guessing you find the newer spells? Also, is it just me or is the game horribly unbalanced? Some hard quests give no xp because by the time you can do it, you are too high. Too many areas give little to no xp(5 per enemy)... I know the game is non-linear, but I never had such problems with Fallout... Does it get better balanced in 2 and 3? Well, I upped my healing from 7 to 10 last level and didn't really see any improvement. 40-60 healing.,.. and under my abilities list it shows healing at 2... Any ideas? Posts: 71 | Registered: Monday, September 19 2005 07:00 |

Oh, and one more thing... it seems like spellcraft is important to determine healing abilities.. is this correct? I was under the assumption that I could keep increasing my healing skill and that would be enough. Would that be wrong? Posts: 71 | Registered: Monday, September 19 2005 07:00 |

As a newbie who read that magic creations are the best, I didn't want to level my guy as if I knew this ahead of time.. therefore, I am primarily bumping intelligence since I won't legitimately know which type is the best til the end. So far I have been using battle/magic.. the newer the find, the better.. was using the big battle guys, now just found a drayyk. I guess I could add one level of each magic/battle creations each level. Posts: 71 | Registered: Monday, September 19 2005 07:00 |

Doesn't it make more sense to go all into intelligence than the shaping skills? That way you could max out new creations' strength, etc? It seems like you get the new creations from exploring, and not levelling. Wouldn't it be better to max strength than to give the creation a few levels? And also, does strength affect everyones' damage, including missile type creations? Ok, one last question for now. How worth it is it to increase the shaping skills? It gives an extra level to the appropriate creatures right? Is it that every 3 into the shaping skills gets you a new creature or every 3 canisters that raise like roamer to level 3 gets me a new creature? I have been pretty much just pumping everything into int/healing/leadership/mechanics... Also, how do you determine the category of new creatures such as a battle alpha? Isn't that kind of silly? What is the point of their skill points then? Nothing? hat is the advantage of evolving vs absorbing and creating a newer creature with more stats? [ Friday, September 08, 2006 04:47: Message edited by: shadow9d9 ] Posts: 71 | Registered: Monday, September 19 2005 07:00 |

Thanks guys. New question: What is the advantage of evolving your creatures over just starting them out with higher stats? Posts: 71 | Registered: Monday, September 19 2005 07:00 |

Just started Geneforge and have some questions. What is the yellow bar under your health bar? Stamina? Do you get less xp having 2 pets out rather than 1? Is it possible to get by without mechanics? Mmm, I play everything on normal, wouldn't touch torment. I died over 500 times in Avernum 2.. it was pretty tough...Of course, I went to areas I probably shouldn't have so soon. Is it compareable? 6 months ago I beat Avernum 1. I just beat Avernum 2 which was fantastic. It will probably be a bit before I'm ready for the next Spiderweb game, but do you think I should try Geneforge or Avernum 3? Afraid to overdose on the same game world. Posts: 71 | Registered: Monday, September 19 2005 07:00 |

Besides for some endurance, I can't see what else the mage/priests could use besides for int/mage/priest spells. Posts: 71 | Registered: Monday, September 19 2005 07:00 |

Ah, gotcha. Makes sense. Are there ever diminishing returns with skills? My int/mage spells are both 18+ and same for the priest side... Posts: 71 | Registered: Monday, September 19 2005 07:00 |

As for the post on hardiness, it says it has a chance to block 1 per level... but it doesn't sound definite from the description... Posts: 71 | Registered: Monday, September 19 2005 07:00 |

I am in the middle of Avernum 2 and had a few questions.. How does Sanctuary work? I have level 3 and have tried to use it a few times... doesn't seem to do anything. Do skills ever hit diminishing returns? Such as intelligence, mage spells, priest spells etc? For my fighters I have struggled at finding the best combination of skills for higher levels but I am really not sure what will help them at higher levels vs the abundance of spells and multi-hitting enemies... One fighter has the following skills- 11 strength 5 dexterity 1 int 11 endurance 14 pole weapons 11 hardiness 3 defense 11 assassination 10 Anatomy 8 gymnastics Would it be better to boost dex/defense or dex/end/hardiness or what else would you suggest for high level encounters? It seems to be that hardiness is very important, but in the skill description it says it just has a chance of reducing damage by 1. Posts: 71 | Registered: Monday, September 19 2005 07:00 |

I beat quest 1 and got frustrated at this point... started Avernum 2 just to check out the beginning of the game.. went back to 1, killed grah-hoth and got to the portal... but since I didn't have all the brooches, I couldn't get past... I had accomplished enough in the game to stop and prep for Av 2. I am completely new to spiderwebgames and I was very impressed with A1, despite a few ridiculous hidden, but necessary tunnels required for quests... or silly things missed like this. I refuse to look up things until I am beyond frustrated.. which I was for this and the rune "puzzle" for the scimitar hidden orb. Fantastic game. I am now taking a break from videogames, which I do after every game, and lasts for 2 days or so... Then it is on to Space Rangers 2... then probably back to A2... Also should get some more hl2 in along with Xenosaga... then kotor 2... Trying to find a balance of what I crave and how much of the more hardcore gaming(Avernums and space rangers and kotor 2) I can handle before going back to less brain using games such as the Xenosaga and HL2.
