Special Encounter to Leave Town? in Blades of Avernum Editor

If you want a script to boot the party out of the town and into the outdoors, then just create a really tiny town (ie. a small town with its boundaries being extremely constraining) and use a move_to_new_town(); to send the party there. (Be sure to properly identify this town's exit coordinates!)

For 40$ (not including tax or S&H), you can buy both BoA and BoE.

The porting function did a reasonable job on the outdoors.

Not much else, though. So I decided to re-make it from the ground up! :P

Oh, c'mon. Like you didn't know I'd be first. ;)

I won't need many testers. Only Mac users for now (obviously), and I'd vastly prefer people skilled with the editor in terraining, scripting, et cetera. This scenario is short-- 5 towns, although all of them are necessary to the plot -- and should only take a day or two to test. (I want it released early next week.) For those familiar with the BoE of the scenario of the same name, they merely share just that- their name. The differences between RoR-BoE and RoR-BoA are huge, making both (or at least the BoA version) worth a play.

Name and email, please! Thanks. :)

What file format would one have to use in order to make the sound function, or are all sounds fine?
If so, I have some that I would like to try! ^_^

Many thanks.

Am I the only person who didn't understand the comment Alec made on Stuggie's poem? I'll have to put together a poem of my own eventually.

I did most of those things for B2. I didn't need to keep track of shops, however, because there are so few in the scenario. I also didn't need to keep track of special items because I never "used" them- I gave them to the party for a cosmetic effect, but I only checked SDFs. I'm hardcore, baby.

Cathoons are not equal to Nephilim. (Cathoons are closer to bats than cats.) Realmz is 2d, BoA is not. And as for the graphics, the same person supplied the sprites for both games- Andrew Hunter. Therefore, you would see many overlapping graphics: Practically all of the graphics in Exile are found in Realmz somewhere.

I pity your beta-testers. BoA is so easy to make typoes in. Without the ability to play-test your scenario, you won't be able to see where you're missing a semicolon or a bracket.

Realmz is NOT a Spiderweb Software game. There might be a few similarities, but that's because both Realmz and BoA are RPGs (ie. Role Playing Games). RPGs tend to be turn-based fighting games that do damage based on dice (artificial or otherwise) and statistics of characters.

Why they also might seem similar is that both have no real story, and have scenario editors. Divinity (Realmz's editor), however, is far inferior to the BoA Scenario Editor.

I'm working on one for levels 1-5.
It should be done incredibly soon (preferably before Monday), if I'm able to think of a few neat gimmicks for the final dungeon.

Slith Graphics Request in Blades of Avernum Editor

You could use the icon shift- cheezy, I know, but there's just something neat about a fire/ice slith that never seems to get old, regardless of however many species it's applied to. :P

Well, eh. A dark-red Slith Chief would be an interesting graphic.

Randomness interferes with the plot. Alcritas placed hobgoblins in OG&E, merely for the purpose that RPGs need wandering fights and "that's the way things are". I guarantee you, culling them would be an improvement.

If I were to place ogres in Bandits II, people would wonder "why?". If Creator was to place trogs in Revenge, people would wonder "why?". Brett DID pull off some pretty random encounters in DotS, and people DID ask "why?". If Drizzt were to place slimes in SotS, people would ask "why?". In a larger RPG, I don't mind seemingly random encounters. In a scenario like AtG, your comments hold water- If AtG didn't have wandering rogues, nephils, trogs, etc, I'd wonder if I was in a play. In a short or medium scenario, however, there is so little time to say what needs to be said that not only does randomness destroy whatever chain of sequences needs to be established, in the worst cases it can outright dwarf the plot itself.
