Usually he has sold the copy right, but not always. Further, he may have an agreement which allows limited use for non-commercial purposes. Emailing the individual might not work, but it might. Lots of things that are worth doing are hard and you might fail trying, but that does not mean you should not try.

The point is that is that just using it is almost certainly illegal and certainly impolite. Asking might make it legal and is a lot nicer. It is really a matter of style and how you want to be known in the world. Do what you think is right.

All of us who have used the editor know how much work it takes to put together something good, never mind excellent. Since our work is in the electronic medium, it is easily transfered and copied. Most of us do not mind if our work is copied this way, but some of us do. Artists are just the same.

Those who do creative work for a living would be more sensative to this than people doing it as a hobby. As Jeff how he feels about people copying his work and not paying for it. The only way to find out if the person who did the graphics you like will let you use them is to ask.

Why don't you email them and ask if you can use it? It is polite, shows respect for their good work and, if they say yes, is legal. This came up a year ago on the Shrapnel website and the artist actually came over and had a look at what people were doing. She was undertanding and pointed out that she had a website where somethings could be used and others could not.

If something is worth doing, it is worth doing right. If someone does good work, it is worth showing them respect.

Hmm, ok, that seems sensible. Low graphics game does not need high resolution. I will give it a shot, thanks.

Newbie alert.

Using the editor in Windows, I find I can not adjust the size of the editor window relative to my entire screen. This make the buttons pretty small and hard to see. Does anyone hae a solution, other than buying a 100" screen?

Thanks!

Actually, iteration and reiteration are related, but different words. Iterations are used in statistics and have a specific technical meaning. It does not have to be a repeating of something, as the first iteration of a series is not a repeating of a procedure. The iterations which follow are repetitions of the same process, but give different results. It is also used as a noun. William Gibson uses the word and concept in The Difference Engine as a fundamental part of the story structure.

Reiteration is strictly a verb and does see common usage outside of the statistical world, where it does mean to repeat.

And yes, I am being pedantic.

If you decide to go for the no pants thing, remember that a cloak would cover things well, so you may need to build that in. While the idea may already occur in Morrowwind, do not let that stop you if you have a good way of linking it to your scenario.

I am guessing that a good developer like Spiderweb will be looking closely at player feedback, so I am going to throw in a summary of small but important changes that I support. Most have these have been mentioned, if not all, so this is mostly a post to the developers saying “yep, that is something that at least a few people are worried about.”

Trainers should not be capped at base +2. If a limit is needed, make it a total number of trainings limit. Melee characters will train their skills past that before they get to the appropriate trainer. Characters should be able benefit from these without “out of game knowledge.” The idea that my Guardian should wait to boost his fighting skills until reaching Mr. Blade, four or five hours of game play into the game, does not seem intuitive to me.

Losing all your action points if you attack first, even though you might have some left over. I understand that clicking, “end of turn” when I only have two points left might get annoying, but if I kill someone with my sword and have a point or two left over, I want to walk towards them. I also like the suggestion of the cursor with the number of points left, but that is not as important to me as the first idea.

Cash running out in the stores. I am not sure it adds to the game and I am sure it does get annoying. May I suggest that it be dropped for a simpler, if less realistic, eternally rich merchant?

The hotkey “G” bring forth a nice box of goodies to pick from. I may be missing something, but I have to click on the “X” to close that box. If the box could be closed by clicking anywhere outside the pop-up box, it would be a nice touch. Very small point, I know, but tendonitis makes me notice extra mouse clicks.

Generally, it is a lovely game and, if beta testing is needed for III, I would be interested in lending a hand.
