Good luck with the game. You must read a lot of Charlie Brown. Am I the only one who noticed that?

Anywho, That game's a fun time. Simple, but sometimes the simplest things are best. It is a bit like subterra, but perhaps more archaic. I'll try and make some levels.

What feature that the Avernum series lacked would you most like to see in BoA? in Blades of Avernum

Less standard spells, more unusual ones. Definitely. Although let's not be too hasty about getting rid of any, because I find almost every spell useful at some point in the game (except terror.)

(Random Thought) A really neat spell would be something that pushes an enemy back a few squares, say, 4. This would come in handy no matter what level you're character is at. In the beggining a tough Melee creature, like a bandit or nephil leader, could be pushed back from your party so the mage and priest could deal with it. Later on, it could have multiple targets, or enemy mages would use it on your fighters. Makes for some really interesting strategies (AKA every fighter know it, every fighter hasted, fighter attacks melee and casts spell so creature can't attack back)

Oh my god. Someone malicious has gotten onto my gomputer, again, and messed with my internet stuff again. I don't know who the ___ wrote that, but it sure wasn't me.

For additional explanation, I live at a boarding school in New Hampshire, there are no locks on the dorm rooms, and I auto-login at this forum to make it easier for myself. And there are a lot of people here who I really don't like. :(

As for my real opinion, I think that until there is a surefire way to make nuclear weapons obsolete, basic world borders can't change between large nations, like ours, because of the nuclear threat. As a result, we are making sure small countries don't disturb the balance of world power. Although I do see no reason why we should have gotten into kosvo, but I was too young to understand at that point.

In any case, SORRY!!! I HATE THIS PLACE!!!

Oh yes. And I'm turning auto-login off. :D

Huh. At one point I changed my name, and blocked my karma rating. But then I decided that we all must be judged by those we don't know, so I stuck it back on. It dosen't really matter, in my opinion. None of us here are COMPLETE and total morons.

Well, we give up our countries after wrecking them. At least that's what they tell us. (I was for the war, though, just because of saddam. Another sane dictator wouldn't have been as bad.)

Also, a superpower with nukes and bad government and morals is a BAD thing? look at Rome! they kicked the Heinie of the WORLD!!!

Muskets? in Blades of Avernum

You're right. Besides, an AK-47 would make a great magic bow. And who says that it has to be slow to fire? Magic reload. I just love the idea of a dervish with a crowbar and a machine gun. Against a goblin. And a nephlim. And to make it fair around twenty Haakai. :D

Henrick is right. Primitive muskets loaded through the barrel like a large cannon, and lighting a separate matchcord each time was a tiresome business. Also, they didn't have steel back then, so cast-iron (or however they made them) would weigh a ton.

However, it would be cool to have a "battle town" with entreched armies and a static cannon or mortar graphic, and flame puffs between the trenches, like on lava.

In terms of movie-type soundtracks, pretty much any classical done in the Twentieth Century (or otherwise classified as modern.) This era of classical seems to have many of the dramatic bass sections that makes music have that flare to it.

And it's not wearing a brightly colored cloak (It could be a midget, you never know.)

It seemed to me that the vahnatai seemed very quick and high damage warriors with low HP and excess in skills like Assasinaton, Defense, Thrown Weapons, Agility, Magery, Mage skill, Blademaster, Gymnastics, etc. And low points in Strength, Endurance, Bows, Pole Weapons, Hardiness, and other similar skills. Therefore, to balance a Vahnatai you would need a very slow, strong character with almost no mage skill, AKA Giants or Troglodytes. Or sliths, on second thought...

And what is an Illithicid thing? 'scuse me for my spellin'

The meaning of life. in General

I've Always thought the meaning of life was enjoyment and satisfaction. Thus, if the Philosopher enjoys trying to find the meaning of life, he has found it if he is has satisfaction. If the rice farmer enjoys spreading his rice throughout the lands to starving people, and he is satisfied, he has found it. If someone is satisfied with being the modern day equivelant of Hugh Hefner, as I would be, then they have found the meaning of their life.

Then again, look where that's gotten me...

Around 30%, probably. Let's not go overboard, and unbalance the game.

However, if you were to have the Vahnatai as a PC, you would have to have some uber-powerful beast like a troglodyte or a giant (now THAT would be cool!) to keep the game balanced.

Even cooler would be a party where each member is superior in their role, but has to rely almost entirely on the roles of other PCs to not get killed. This would make a challenge of leadership, a sort of rock-paper-scissors type thing. You could do this with a Vahnatai (Ultimate Mage, almost no strength) a Giant (Incredible hand to hand, no magic allowed) a Dryad (Preist spells and potions, but slow and high encumberance) and a Troglodyte (Same as Giant, just a little faster and a little weaker, perhaps big bonus with pole weapons.)

However, if one of the PCs died...

Just as things are beggining to settle down, a giant, twenty-foot tall cyclops drags itself out of the water, flourescent seaweed covering his bright, newly polished armor. He walks over to Lone Flame.

Cyclops: Watcha doin?
Lone Flame: Making sand castles for a war. Now go away. you'll ruin everything.
Cyclops: Awww.... please? Come on, I'm really good! I'll be on your side! Just gimme a chance! Please!
Lone Flame: There are no teams, you childish moron. But fine. You can play. Just DON'T MESS UP!!!
Cyclops: Goodee!

The Cyclops immediately stoops down and begins making a hill out of the sand, which turns to glass beneath his knees. Suddenly, he screams in pain:

NOOOOO!!! I'VE GOT SAND IN MY ARMOR!!!
