quote:In the first one, yes, you could. You could use them anywhere in place of mechanics, like the unlock spell. It's only with the GF2/3 system you can only use them on locked doors and boxes. I'll probably end up preferring one of the other characters, but I'll be trying Shapers first. I always try Shapers first, since shaping is the main unique thing about the Geneforge series. -------------------- "Attaining one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the pinnacle of excellence. I have a similar problem. I have good parties made in the demos of A3 and BOA and I've used them to the limit. I only want to order one game, but I'm not sure whether to go with the already big world of A3 or the potentially bigger and better world of BOA. Also if I get BOA I'm thinking of making a scenario or two. I've made plug-ins for non-spiderweb games so stuff like that is fun for me. -------------------- "Attaining one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the pinnacle of excellence. OK, this is gonna sound like a stupid newbie question, but my two melee fighters got shot with webs by a giant spider, and it's not wearing off and I don't know how to get it off. I've been walking around for about a day and a half, I've tried heal and cure from my cleric, rested in a hotel, and I've gone to two healers, but still no results. Now they only have one AP in combat, and I'm sure you can see why that would be a problem. Have I just not given it enough time to completely wear off, or is there something I should do? -------------------- "Attaining one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the pinnacle of excellence. GF was a lot better than GF2. I repeatedly played through GF, but I never even registered GF2. I loved GF for some of the same reasons Kyna did. It was the first Spiderweb game I'd played, too, and I felt that 'new world feeling. The story was better, some mysterious discovery drove your people from the island, there are outsiders here trying to unlock that discovery. And there's the side plot of the ancient history of the island. I didn't like the GF2 demo because there were too many populated areas and too few ruins. if you needed supplies, you had to make money and buy it, you couldn't just go questing and find some long lost treasure trove. Also, I heard from a person who had played through GF2 that combat eventually became 'who stuns first'. I don't like daze/stun attacks, and GF2 went overboard on them. -------------------- "Attaining one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the pinnacle of excellence. I have a problem that I treat my creations more as my compatriots than the cannon fodder they are. I always name them. I give my creations names based on one of three things: 1. their species (artila=Shai'Hulud) 2. their master's name (master named Aragorn, creations named after hobbits) 3. if I have a few different species, I name each group after a duo or trio (my first fyoras were named Bill n' Ted, my artilas Jay and Silent Bob) -------------------- "Attaining one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the pinnacle of excellence. OK, whenever my brother goes out he leaves AOL messager open w/ an away message up. If I play any spiderweb game (Geneforge and Avernum 3) while this is opened, my computer freezes.I used to have this problem when he was using the version of AOL for OS X but when he switched to the one for OS 9 it went away. It just started acting up again. I know it's not something generally wrong with my computer because I can play Diablo II for as long as I like with no problems. I could just quit out of messanger, but if I could fix the problem that would be great.
