Thanks guys. Unfortunately, I think I killed something I shouldn't have. Damned cannister jonesing makes me jumpy. There's this great cave after a winding narrow path in the extreme NE corner of the zone. It even has a question mark on the map. But there's nothing there.... I expect there was and something was supposed to give me a key. Oh well, next time through. Posts: 11 | Registered: Wednesday, January 29 2003 08:00 |

I was wondering if anyone can be of help. No hint book (if Jeff ever sells these as downloadables I'm a buyer. Just don't want to deal with waiting in line at the French post office for hours more than necessary). In Sentinel Groves, where do you get the key to enter the tombs in the south-west? I've been all over the map looking and am very frustrated. Thanks in advance! Posts: 11 | Registered: Wednesday, January 29 2003 08:00 |

Thanks again to all, especially Draykefire, for earlier assistance. The First time I played, Loyalist Agent, I managed to miss 2 dungeons completely, so that's why I never found the deep crystal/focus orb. This time, I'm trying as an agent who plays loyalist for as long as possible and switches by killing Kyryk (spelling). I found 2 things that may be buggy. One funny and the other irritating. It may be my mistake somehow.... 1)When returning to stonespire after chatting with Kyryk (spelling), I went up to the NW corner to report to Macallan. Told 'em I'd seen the shaper, he says good, then I'm off. I wasn't sure I had heard all the conversation options so I went into fight mode, stood in the doorway and managed to block macallan's exit. Talk again. Don't see any new options. BUT the "I talked to Kyryk" option was there still. Got it? Who needs an experience editor? You just stand there and type 4, then 1 then click on him again...and again...I went up a level that way then stopped as it risked taking a lot of fun out of the game. Some people might enjoy it. 2)In Icy End the one drayk won't train you until you help Vrabel. Vrabel wants me to kill Orois Blaze (the greedy merchant lizard to the south). So I kill him. Go back to Vrabel who gives me the quest again. But, uhm, he's dead. So I go on and kill the shapers at the camp come back. Same thing. Go talk to the head honcho, tell the shapers are dead meat. Back to Vrabel. Same quest. Hmm. It looks like a bug....But maybe there's something else I'm supposed to do? I'm carrying the lizard's skin around so I should think that would be adequate proof! Any advice? Thanks! Posts: 11 | Registered: Wednesday, January 29 2003 08:00 |

Salve et Servus fellow cannister-slurping, hyped-up, acquisitive killers- First, on my last post, thanks for the feedback! Especially, as always, draykfire, for not only answering specific questions but putting so much work in to help the rest of us. To Wit: The RECIPES! I'm near the end of the game, having destroyed the Geneforge, etc. Unlike GF2 and GF3 gameplay, I still have tons of uncompleted quests. Doesn't seem possible to join the sects after one another. Sniff. I love an empty quest list. Some are due to the Lakan fiasco. Others, well....Corrie is no more so the Clawbug Hunt can't get me a reward, Khyryk is on my side so no one survived to reward me if went back and pounded him into eccentric shaper mush. But 1)what do you need to fix the shaper vat? I tried tools and equipment but nothing worked. And 2) WHERE do you find a deep focus orb? And 3)deep crystal? I've wandered all over the place, going back to annoying areas that even hurt my 39th level loyalist agent and never a focus orb or deep crystal....Knowing my luck I found 'em and sold 'em thinking they were gems or something. 4) Is the clincher. I've got the entry bracelet and the fully bejeweled one that matches it (nice touch that from Jeff the 2 objects from beginning and end of game looking alike). But I still can't get into the room in the monestary. I'm hoping it is another dungeon. The bracelet glows and that's that. What am I supposed to do? Which brings me to 5). This game feels much more like Arvernum or Exile to me than the Geneforge games. Maybe I need to play it again as another character before judging. But it seems much less intuitive. The Greiner thing, the special cannister, getting the the trainers to train you, reading the spirit book again and again in the ghost dungeon. Going back to the magic rune after every battle in the testing ground. Run from here to there and back, stand on your head wearing a pink tutu and yodle to make the magic spirits rise. Some people like that. For me it is a bit too much like debugging microsoft software. Or fixing a broken apple powerbook or modem router ("Hold the control option power keys for three seconds, then the power p+r+q+s untill you hear a rising sequence of notes taken from Sibellius, at the command line type "rm nvmem" then after ok dance a jig naked on fifth avenue with a banana in your ear before sending the damn thing to the manufacturer for a replacement harddrive") Again, I'll play another game to find out. But I killed Litalia TWICE. Er, well, I killed her in the Geneforge, then went back to the gate area that I hadn't cleared. And there she was, like a bad penny. Alive and well and stomping on me with the pylons I had planned to pick off one at a time. I smite her into oblivion and then get the message that she opens a whole in the universe and steps into it escaping. Where? Into the afterlife I had already consigned her to? And then I got an autosave bug near the end where I go back to get my experience from Lord Smugness (well I wish he or his wife would open up a bit more, If Khyryk has dirty pictures in his closet what do those two get up to?) but the map shows from the first island and won't change. Argggh. Well, is this just my bad luck? Tell me it is so I can play it again and get more satisfaction. I'll rebel next time. Cheers and thanks for any help or encouragement. Posts: 11 | Registered: Wednesday, January 29 2003 08:00 |

Hi there all you fellow kleptomaniacal psychopaths! (Isn't that what that what Jeff called us in the secret area at the end of, uhm, the arvernum (?) games...We run around stealing anything not nailed down and joyfully killing things) I'm enjoying GF3. Don't have the hintbook. Thought maybe someone else has run through the game further than I have and knows the answer to a few things... 1) If you took the strange cannister in the mage's underground workshop is there any way NOT to have to kill Lakan or let him use it? 2) Any idea how to find the spy in the same town on Harmony? I know the spy but can't get the proof... 3) Are the consequences insanely serious if you give scintle the shaper tome back on greenwood? 4) The shaper equipment, iron bars, crystals flawed, lovely and beautiful... are these quest related (or useful in late game) as in GF1 and GF2. I'd love to sell some of those damn gems to get training but hesitate.... ...And for general discussion What weapons and armor have you enchanced, with what stone and what combinations do you like? (All I've done is a blessing on a miserable iron sword to test it out, I'm saving the stones till I've got better equipment to enhance but upping the ruby chestguard is tempting) It feels like GF3 is more essence-and-rare-shaper-object poor than 3 and 4. And not enough CANNISTERS (frothing at the mouth). Is this just my imagination? It also feels like GF3 is more arvernum-like. Run here to there and back, find the quest couldn't be finished, run back again...I may be to early on to judge. What do "youse" think? I like the new inventory screen but REALLY wish you could still double click on things to just pop 'em in your pack. The sliding between on ground window to in pack is wrist-wrenching on my trackpad! Anybody agree? Sorry for so many different topics! And enjoy your gameplay! :) [ Thursday, March 31, 2005 04:54: Message edited by: phrederic ] Posts: 11 | Registered: Wednesday, January 29 2003 08:00 |
