If I was to take sides on this issue it would undoubtedly be with the Palestinians. Why? Simple. They lived there in relative peace for many long years, and yet those who.....backed.......the formation of the Israeli state ( I won't point any fingers in particular but I would imagine many of you can guess who I personally am referring to) try to convince the world, and themselves, that their actions were just by reminding us that the inhabitants were predominantly Jewish a few thousand years ago. Yes, perhaps they were driven out by the Palestinians in their time but to base such actions on history two millenia old seems, to be plain, immature. That is my opinion. I'm not being argumentative, I'm just making a statement. -------------------- Beware of pretty girls in dance halls and parks who may be spies, as well as bicycles, revolvers, uniforms, arms, dead horses, and men lying on roads -- they are not there accidentally." - Soviet infantry manual, 1930's Posts: 267 | Registered: Wednesday, November 27 2002 08:00 |

quote:Anyone watch Creature Comforts? Not as good as Nick Park's short movies & chicken run but still credible. :D Here's my wee list of movies so I don't wander off-topic... ;) -Original SW trilogy -Monty Python films (all of them) -Godfather 1 (don't read the book! I did and regretted it. Painfully awful stuff.) -Dances With Wolves -Last of the Mohicans -Life Is Beautiful (a true masterpiece) -The Elephant Man -The Pianist -Star Trek: First Contact -Gattaca -Equilibrium (kind of overshadowed by a certain action trilogy also released in recent years but I reckon this was better done than the last two parts of said other action trilogy's last 2 parts, by far) -Shrek -Chicken Run -Pirates of the Caribbean -LoTR trilogy (you can't stop me either) -Marx brothers stuff -Loads of other films which I will have forgotten but are equally brilliant...there's just too many to remember) To avoid posting too much :D I'll take this oppurtunity to draw your attention to the fact that I've been away for a fair while and am now back. <anticipates widespread celebration> - Just so you know. :D -------------------- Beware of pretty girls in dance halls and parks who may be spies, as well as bicycles, revolvers, uniforms, arms, dead horses, and men lying on roads -- they are not there accidentally." - Soviet infantry manual, 1930's Posts: 267 | Registered: Wednesday, November 27 2002 08:00 |

Butch rummaged around in her pack. Eventually she pulled out the meagre remains of the fungicide they had used earlier. 'Here,' she said, handing Nicky the bottle, 'now you take some of that and scuttle off to bed, and you'll feel great in the morning - perhaps even well enough to fight us?' 'Well.....' grumbled Nicky.....'we'll see....I mean, I am pretty busy.... and I need to have a bath after I get up, I haven't had one in 12 hours!' The party restrained themselves from throwing up again with difficulty. James the Flying Nephil looked on, nonplussed. Triksi explained the situation to him. James vomited repeatedly.

I think we should split this thing into sections so that it's easier to write, and easier to refer to when (if :D ) it's finished. Here is my suggestion for a broad outline: Section I - Rise of the Empire Section II - The Discovery of Vantanas and Pralgad Section III - The Discovery of Valorim and The Anama War Section IV - The Contemporary Empire I know these names are a bit unwieldy but I just did them quickly to describe what I meant. Obviously these more general 'chunks' would be separated into subsections, but a general idea of the order of things is a good start. Also, what kind of length are we looking at here? How much are people prepared to write? -------------------- Beware of pretty girls in dance halls and parks who may be spies, as well as bicycles, revolvers, uniforms, arms, dead horses, and men lying on roads -- they are not there accidentally." - Soviet infantry manual, 1930's Posts: 267 | Registered: Wednesday, November 27 2002 08:00 |

I know that things such as nodes and encounters are pretty difficult to coordinate between 2 people, but surely something such as the outdoors wouldn't be too confusing? One person could work on crafting the outdoors while the other does the towns - just the town terrain, without putting creatures in (and perhaps the simpler nodes and encounters). Everything gets sent to a final 3rd person who puts in all the nodes, dialogue etc. and polishes off the final scenario. So, at the end, each person has far less work to do, and the scenario gets done quicker.

If you root around a bit on the Avernum 3 section of the site, you will find instructions on how to do this (written in reverse, I believe). I'm unsure of the exact page, but I'll post it here if I can find it. Edit: I found it :D . Scroll to the bottom of this page. The party stared, apparently transfixed, at Nicky the Necro. They had been expecting an epic trek through miles of dungeon just to glimpse Nicky for long enough to kill him. They had not expected him to come to the door, and had certainly not expected him to be begging for help. 'Uh.....' said Scipio. The party looked at him. Scipio accidentally looked at Moppet and became hypnotized. It was at this point that Moppet, rather inappropriately (especially since they had just been asked for help by a dangerous necrophile) decided he had had enough of Scipio's cheek. He, a mere adventurer, dared to cross a great inn proprietor such as himself! He pulled out his pocket watch and began to chant...this time he was going to make him pay. 'Excuse me,' said Nicky irritably, 'I think you're being rather rude.' Well I want to steer away from 'boring'. I'll be a glass of water, responsibly drunk by a reveller who knows to keep his body water levels up after drinking alcohol. At this point I feel it is appropriate to quote an amusing passage from a certain Douglas Adams book (this may not be word for word; my memory fails me): '[Teleporting] is unpleasantly like being drunk.' 'What's unpleasant about being drunk?' 'Ask a glass of water.' Finally, I highly recommend said book to all those who have not read it. There. I'm finished now.

OK, this is a sort of simplified version of LF's Questions game. What happens is, you post a number from 1 to 5 here (so that no-one else will take it), then send a sentence via PM to me. It can be any sentence (although for #1 it should be a 'intro' sentence, and #5 should be some kind of end), as long as it is connected with the subject pertaining to each story. If lots of people want to take part (which I'm not at all sure of ) then the amount of slots may be extended. The first person to read this can post the subject which the story relates to.
