I'm currently in the midst of writing a guide for playing as a Shaper in Geneforge 3. At this point it's about 1/3 done.

I'll be putting it on the net once it's 2/3 done, which means it'll have advice on early to mid-game. I'll be submitting it to Gamefaqs and if successful, I'll post the link to it here.

I hope you'll all like it. :)

I hope you go through the mass number of posts on this forum first, to see if there is anything that has been discussed before.

I've taken a look at all those posts, but I can't find anything that's been written about the subject... So I think it's safe to say this'll be a first :D

Good. Write a guide and upload on GameFaq's is an excellent choice. Keep writing and good luck!

There is a fairly detailed walkthrough for G3 already on GameFAQs. It isn't specifically designed for Shapers, though, so strategy should be a big part of the guide. Other people's opinions (and strategies) could add to your guide.

I'll open it up for others to add their thoughts once the completed guide's been posted. I just need to get it to version 1.0 first...

It'll come out at version 0.7 once I've taken the character through Dhonal Island. I'm basically playing through the game again to make sure this guide comes out right, don't want the thing to come out wrong because I forget a few details.

Great idea! A Specialized guide could be really useful in a game like this, since you don't want to send a Shaper through a combat-based area, or area portion.

I hope you give it up. Matt P (in this forum the account Schodinger) had already done a very thorough walkthrough, many people including myself had helped. Actually he wrote all spiderwebsoftware games faqs ever since avernum2. So if you want to do a faq, try avernum4.

Yes, the guide isn't bad, but why someone musn't write another FAQ? (The Matt P's guide has an error, don't you know? :P )

You don't know much about gramma, do you? Of course faqs have errors, you seem have no idea how much effort must be paid to do one as good as Matt P's.

Sorry, I don't want to offend you and Matt's work (that is also my friend): the error that I said was not a grammatic error, but a not-fully-exactly information in it. Of course, that not make bad the FAQ. I know how much hard work is needed to write a guide.

(if you want to say that MY grammar is bad, is because I'm Italian)

I appreciate all the help I've received on FAQs, but I've found that well over half of all FAQs that get started are never completed. That's not to discourage you, but more an acknowledgement that writing a FAQ is hard (and often thankless) work. That said, it's not too bad to go ahead and write up a FAQ especially if you have a new view of things. I've written FAQs for games which already had guides simply because the guides were insufficient. Although I do try to make my FAQs very thorough, there will be things I miss.

Check out a great source for information on Avernum 2, Nethergate, and Subterra: Zeviz's page.
Finally, there's my Geneforge FAQ, Geneforge 2 FAQ, and
Geneforge 3 FAQ.

Thank you, Schrodinger for all your excellent guides. And Cyber_Skaarj, for your uncompleted guide. And anyone else who created a guide/FAQ for Spiderweb Software games.

Incidently, Dikiyoba solved the nest-in-Pentil-Woods mystery of G1. Dikiyoba sent Schrodinger an e-mail about it a long time ago, but Dikiyoba was never sure if it reached its destination.

Exactly my point.

Even Matt P's excellent faq had many mistakes as far as I could see. As for luck, he failed to mention each point will +2% to hit and 2% chance to dodge. Also "Adds one point to each resistance and armor per point of skill" is not accurate, it only add to fire, cold and energy resistance and armor. I guess the official gf3 manual has more errors than his faq.

If you still want to write a guide and have problems about the ruleset, you can ask me.

Yes. I absolutely agree. Thanks to Schrodinger. Forgive my posts up there, please. I mailed him too.

Almost done, just a few bits more to sort out and it'll be submitted to gamefaqs.

Yes, and it's one that I've frequently used to help with quests and finding items. However, I'm not writing a Walkthrough, I'm writing a general guide on playing as a Shaper character through ealry, middle and late game. What this means is tips on how to spend skill points, the sort of equipment that'll be useful, abilities to get, and so on.

This is the first guide I'll have ever written, so when it's up, please go a little easy on the critisism ;)
