If you like G3, buy G3. If you don't like G3, don't buy G3. If you like G4 when it comes out, buy G4. If you don't like G4 when it comes out, don't buy G4. It's as simple as that. Come up with a compelling scenario (either serious or absurd) as to why the decision absolutely must come down to one or the other and then Dikiyoba will choose one or the other. If you have already voted it seems you've made a decision without needing a poll. Try the demo, and if you like it buy it, if not don't. Posts: 2032 | Registered: Wednesday, January 26 2005 08:00 |

#1 Don't yell at those who try to help. #2 Try using spellcheck. #3 Try the demos first. According to Jeff you've got about a 6 month wait until GF4 is ready. It will be longer for Windows users. It depends upon what you want to do until it's available. You can always download the demo to GF3 and then decide. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

If you haven't tried the demo, try it. That's what it's for. If you have tried the demo and are still unsure, chances are you will not like the rest of the game either. If you already made up your mind, what was the point of the poll? (Aside from letting several people increase our postcounts.) -------------------- Be careful with a word, as you would with a sword, For it too has the power to kill. Trust me, GF3 is a good game. You have to buy it. GF4 is a "continue" of GF3, I think. In gf4 will be a war, in GF3 you will know why. So, buy GF3 before GF4 (that will come on 25th December). -------------------- Download Geneforge 4: Rebellion You have 6 posts. Originally by MagmaDragoon: quote:Jeff just said that he thought he could have it ready to go around Christmas time, not that that was exactly when G4 would be out. Perhaps it may even come out a little before then. Dikiyoba. Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

In my view, one should always buy all of Jeff's games, as soon as they are released. Personally, I love the Geneforge games to point of compulsion. Must.. turn.. all.. zones.. Green. [Edit: if A4 had a similar feature, I believe I would like it even more.] You will play through Geneforge 3 at least twice, so on a $/hr basis I think that makes it pretty good value anyway. Micawber, your point is exactly like mine. I don't appreciate the Avernum Series because there aren't zones. -------------------- Download Geneforge 4: Rebellion You have 6 posts. I also like the GF zone structure, because it helps you budget your playing time: I'll just do one zone. Also for the opposite reason: I'll just do one more zone. One thing I both like and dislike about G3 is that its world map is broken up into different islands, so you don't get to see the whole thing at once and guess where the zones will go. It was frustrating on the first two islands not to be able to see anything of Dhonal's Isle, but on the other hand this 'super-zone' effect did really motivate me to get to the next map, to see the next island. I have been wondering how G4 (or G5 or whatever) might handle a large city. Perhaps something a bit like the A1-3 towns would actually do the trick: an area in the game map is blocked off, and if you enter it then you move to a new map, kind of the way you do in G3 when you sail to a new island. But this new map represents a single city, and might contain quite a few zones. Ehh, it's probably not necessary to do it that way. You could make a big city the same way as in G3, just by packing a lot of zones close together. -------------------- We're not doing cool. We're doing pretty. quote:Sorry if my post sounded overly aggressive. I guess some of the points were already said by too many others before me, so repeating them sounded like harping on the issue. quote:There is a difference of opinion about that. Although I guess you might be right: http://www.ironycentral.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=19;t=000447 (The poll was posted in Gf3 forum, so the sample was self-selected, but it seems that most people did play it more than once.)
