This board has no search option so forgive me if this was asked before. The Mage with No Name for the Ring of Endless Magery quest does not appear in any of my Avernum 3 games. I am familiar with him and where he should appear from Exile III but so far I have played Avernum 3 three times but never got my ring. Why isn't he appearing? I am aware that he moves from Krizsan to Delan and I know the rooms. I don't think this is a technical problem but if it helps I am running the latest version (though I couldn't find him in earlier versions either) and I have a mac. Thanks for any help. -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |

Maybe he got eaten by a slime? I don't suppose it helps much but he's still there in my copy of A3, although it drives me crazy sometimes trying to find him. Maybe you were unlucky with your choice of day. I believe he is in Krizsan 1/3 of the time and Delan 1/3 of the time and nowhere at all the remaining 1/3 of the time. -------------------- "I can't read this thread with that image. The "search" command is near the top of the page, by the buttons which allow you to post a reply or start a new topic and so on. It's pretty useless, though. I suggest you buy some food and settle in by one of your target towns where you're certain he'll appear. Then you can just check in every day and see if you've gotten lucky. -------------------- quote: Posts: 1115 | Registered: Sunday, May 15 2005 07:00 |

It is possible that after a certain amount of time, the slimes get him if that quest is not completed. I seem to vaguely recall this from E3, but I cannot be sure. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power! Posts: 3726 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

You are probably just unlucky in locating him. Just check for him every time you pass through the city to look at the job board. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

I stopped the slimes with only minimal damage done to the city of Kriszan. His room seems intact, so he should still be alive. Is it true that 1/3rd of the time he is in neither location? If that is the case, then I feel much better about finding him later. -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |

Yes, that is correct. He's on a three day rotation one of which is nowhere at all. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power! Posts: 3726 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

I would say that this topic is dead considering the one asking the questions is now banned (for good reason). -------------------- "After I'm dead I'd rather have people ask why I have no monument than why I have one." - Cato the Elder (234-149 BC) "The mind, if it exists, is nothing but an unfortunate after effect of the brain process." -Kripke "One should die proudly when it is no longer possible to live proudly." -Friedich Nietzche Posts: 333 | Registered: Saturday, May 20 2006 07:00 |

His ban is not permanent and threads don't belong to the starter. That said, I would sleep better knowing that those lyrics killed the thread. —Alorael, who also can't see the need to announce a topic's death. That's dangerously close to exhumation and draws more attention to things best left buried like, for instance, horrific lyrics. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

Talking about a thread's death just keeps it on life support. Oh, no I'm doing it. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Useless Thread You began life with a purpose. Alas, your time was short. People just didn't know when to stop And now you're on life support. What to do now but Abort! Abort! Abort! Your last posts are nothing but spam And I read them with a sigh. Could we make you useful again? Well, we could try. But, honestly, I'd rather watch you Die! Die! Die! -Dikiyoba [ Tuesday, September 26, 2006 18:13: Message edited by: Dikiyoba ] Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |
