Those of you who thought BoA and Geneforge 2 would be better if you could not only take thing out of dressers/drawers, but put things in as well,I have good news. Read the flowing E-Mail sent to me from Jeff.

(Beggining of E-Mail)

Hey, it's me again. This time, I have a suggestion. For Geneforge 2 and
Blades of Avernum and any other games you may come out with, if you made
them where you could not only take things out of dressers and drawers, but
also put things in them.

It's a neat idea. We'll think about it.

Cool huh? :D :D :D

Great! I always thought it looked messy when I put all my stuff on the floor in Hawke's Manse in A3 :P

He, that occured to me to, and it was quite anoying when the items I had where listed from almost A to Z and I had to scroll all the way down to find a particular item. If they actually implement this sistem you could just store potions in one barrel, weapons in crates, clothing in dresser, etc...saves up space and time.

I fully agree with those who support this idea in this and topics before it. As in a past post I stated that if Jeff's argument was that it wasn't worth the extra click it takes for every time you drop something to signify where to drop it, then don't make it mandatory.
When in Avernum three he changed it so that you could pick up a stack of items without having the little "How many?" box pop up, it was genius. And if you wanted to give exactly 3/8 items to Character B from Character A, then you just hold down control when you click the item.
I simply think he ought to use a similar idea, say hold shift if you want to signify that you want to put your Heroic Gauntlets of Courageous Valor in the chest, not just slam them on the ground like some demented football. That way Jeff keeps out that extra click he's so against, but we can keep things nice and organized and neat if we so choose to take the time. Best of both worlds.

I also like the idea of being able to place things in containers.

I won’t speak for anyone else here, but it’s both funny and tragic that I intend to keep my BoA house less cluttered than I keep my real-life house. :)

It pains me to inform all of you...

Your idea to e-mail Jeff personally was not only the first of it's kind (many people have done this, same topic), but he still has yet to change his mind. Who knows, maybe he really did change his mind after that. But I wouldn't count on it. Everyone gets that answer. Don't count your chickens before they hatch. He seemed very confident that the extra steps needed to drop stuff would be a pain, and better left out. But ok, that's just what I've been told.

In Geneforge 2 it's not happening, since its release is only a few weeks away. In BoA, perhaps, but Jeff has shown remarkable resistance to almost everything we suggest. I think I caught him on a good day when I made him let us make our own abilities (like Divine Aid, Berserker, or Call Shade), which we can actually make into custom spells.

Custom spells, that sounds interesting. Yet more power for the power-hungry.....But who knows? like iI said before, if we all agree with it, and we are persistant enough, he'll do it. I have a strange confidince t we will have it by the time it is released. I can see it now... i own a beautiful mansion, nothing on the floor, all indrawers tly arranged.....(it goes on and on like this for HOURS)

You can actually edit your posts, you know. There's no need to make new posts for everything. Unless, of course, you want to get your post count up. :P But it's highly annoying. So don't do it. ;)

I'd also like to take this opportunity to advise against posting every time someone else has posted in a topic you're interested in, especially if you don't have much more to say. That's called spamming, and we've had enough trouble with that here on Spiderweb. Just give a few more people time to post in between.

—Alorael, who will now return this thread to its regularly scheduled topic. Jeff has maintained adamant opposition to many ideas that everyone supports, like another patch to fix the glaring bugs in BoE.

Do you know why, btw? I read somewhere that Jeff thinks it would hamper all BoE players because they'd have to update to play new scenarios. I'm not sure if he really gave this reason, because it basically is an extremely illogical argument. The flaw is that the only players needing upgrades are those who want to play scenarios designed with the new engine. Where do they get these? From the site. Where would they get the update? From the site :P . It's just another download.

And there could probably be a converter that converts old scenarios to be compatible with the new engine. The problem with patched versions is usually the compatibility of the new files with the old engine, but not the old files with the new engine. You can always program the new engine to accept the old files, but not the other way around.

oops, I did kinda go post-crazy. It was my 1st day, I think, or second, anyway. Sorry, I was a lil tired, didn't remember the edit button. So, I realy do hope we can place things in things like it says. I just bought Hawke's Manse on my NEWLY REGISTERED Avernum 3. I would realy like 2 put thing in the drawers instead of all over the floor...

Sorry to post new and not add on to last, but I want to revive the topic, it's moving too far back, besides, I have come upon a new problem. I can't find out what to do now. I am going to try to kill the Giants, but I cant find their castle, and I would also like to complete the quests I need to do to get the special skills. I still need at least Parry, Barter, and Anatomy. And how do you get rid of a Dread Curse? I duno how I got it, but I did. 2 levels of it in fact. :(

Parry is in Tevrono. Do a quest for Baziron first.
Barter can be bought from a priest in east Lorelei.
Anatomy is a reward from the commander in Poulsbo.

Dread Curse can be removed by Ahonar in Shayder.

In the future, please use the A3 board for A3 questions.

I had sent him an email with Necris Omego's idea quite a few weeks ago, actually, after he suggested it in a topic, if anyone remembers. He said he will put in the ability to drop items on adjacent spaces and put things away if he has time.
