I prefer the colloquialism. In fact, Japanese terms aren't used very often outside of bio-physiological fields. FYI. -------------------- * Posts: 6936 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

A single period is a particle. An ellipsis is three particles. —Alorael, who doesn't think TM's character is a particle at all. It's more of a loopy squiggle. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

... but you really don't want to meet such a squiggle while playing Angband. See, ... can also be a neutral sentence-beginning trio of particles. [Edit: This post builds character.] —Alorael, who would like to know which you'd attack first or whether you'd just run for the stairs. [ Wednesday, October 26, 2005 08:26: Message edited by: Just Visiting ] Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

"You are standing in a rectangular room. There's a door in the west wall, and a staircase leading up next to it. East of you stands an ancient forge/a greater balor (it is hard to tell which), south of you lies a tattered scroll." Or do the character values differ that much between Angband and Adom? -------------------- Encyclopaedia • Archives • Members • RSS [Topic / Forum] • Blog • Polaris • NaNoWriMo Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair. In more recent versions of Angband, greater demons have been changed to U. & is still a major demon in Nethack and its variants. If it's a Nethack water demon and you're really lucky, you might get a wish from it instead of getting beaten to a pulp. But that still doesn't explain why Alorael appeared to offer a choice between attacking a demon and attacking a scroll. :P -------------------- Encyclopaedia • Archives • Members • RSS [Topic / Forum] • Blog • Polaris • NaNoWriMo Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair. The scroll could be a mimic, but it wasn't supposed to be. It should have been a character that doesn't appear in Angband (delta), but it didn't show up and I didn't notice. Now there is a nice ø to go with the scroll. —Alorael, who would run to the stairs. He'd run to the old Angband comic about U and &, but the comic is now lost to the internet graveyard. I just googled "Angband screenshot" and got a surprise. What exactly is Geneforge doing on the first page? —Alorael, who suspects that this is the work of R*. Whether it is W or B remains to be determined. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |
