Bagpipes get irksome after awhile, especially when the players wear kilts.

Really? Nalyd likes bagpipes. He doesn't understand why they have a reputation for being horrible instruments.

The intro music to Avernum and Avernum 2 sound like Dire Straits, and I like Dire Straits, so by extension I like them too (Avernum 2 more than Avernum). However, they don't really fit the mood of the games (especially Avernum 2: it's this mournful guitar riff, and the splash screen depicts a battle). Avernum 3's music fit the splash screen much better, though the music itself isn't so good on its own.

My favourite is Nethergate: Resurrection (intro from Nethergate and menu music from Avernum 4 - which fits Nethergate much more than it did Avernum 4).

I haven't played the Geneforges, but the third and fourth intro music sound the best on their own.

EDIT: Oh, and the Dropkick Murphys.

ET: Love the youtube links, especially that French song. Sounds like something out of Ben-Hur...

I must agree with Tyranicus on this one, although G2 and G3 are excellent, too.

The A2 music is good, but the picture really calls for something more aggressive.

The A2 music is wrong for the battle picture but just right for Dark Waters. Have I mentioned before how much I like chapter 2? A lot. A4's music bothers him, probably because it's a section from a larger piece but not the first section. If Jeff could get Bjorn Lynne music for his games maybe music wouldn't be such a bad thing.

—Alorael, who also has to say that after more listening he likes G1's intro a lot. He can't explain why, but it works well for Geneforge.

I have to say, the Exile I intro on SV really symbolizes Spiderweb best out of all of them. And it reminds me slightly of the end of Buffy episods ("Grr! Arr!"), which is always good.

I really liked that E1 "Monster saw you" sound, which literally went ".rar".

If that wasn't an intentional joke, you've been spending way too much time around computers.

Is it possible, for that matter, to create your own "door opening" and/or "door closing" sounds to incorporate into BOA scenarios?

Well, it was only a matter of time before Machrone arrived.

It surprises me that until now, no one has registered as "Richard White."

I think the only one I've played with sound was Exile one (had to love breaking down doors "Dang", "Darn" "Dang", "Darn"), and then I think I turned it on once for GF1. Have I really been missing that much?

He has registered now and will have done so eventually, at which time he shall retroactively cause himself to have joined at this most auspicious moment. It has been, and will be, for our good, you know.

Obviously this is a false Richard White posing as a different false Richard White, in order to mislead any outsiders who might be getting too close to the decoy secret, which has been carefully placed to dupe the unworthy into thinking they have discovered the first of a fiendishly devious series of subtle and self-referential clues, each fiendisher than the last, and all apparently leading round in a circle back to the original decoy secret, but in reality leading only to a subtly altered copy of it, whose slight but telling difference is itself the final clue to the true location of the second decoy secret.

But by all means go on hoping. The fake is out there.

Of course I am a false Richard White, why, what a dumb assumption it would be to assume that I am a real Richard White. The real Richard White is the mastermind behind this whole operation and cannot be bothered with trivial pursuits and errands. That is why it is I who registered on this forum - a loyal servant, faithful to his liege until the blood courses through his veins.

As to why I am here, and why did I register under the name of Richard White: I cannot say. Yet. You will all know, soon.

EDIT: My master has just informed me of the next step to be undertaken: we will present you with an opportunity to download Galactic Core, Ocean Bound and Homeland, and register them. As a human being to another, I quietly suggest that you take advantage of this opportunity.

Would the Pirates of the Caribbean theme music be more fitting?

For some reason, the first thing I thought of in reply to the last post is the theme to L&O SVU.

Pirates of the Caribbean doesn't fit either. Maybe something from The Planets.
