Is it becoming a fad to refer to people online as creatures, or is it the same member every time whose name I just don't remember? Classical, Folk, Folk Rock, Blues, Jazz. Movie Soundtracks too. I don't see the point of listing specific composers or tracks when last.fm already does it for me. -------------------- The Noble and Most Ancient Order of Polaris - We're Not Yet Dead. quote:Way to go, Kingy! I listen mostly to either metal or classical music. Metalbands I specifically like are: Trivium (duh), Rhapsody of Fire, System of a Down, Wintersun, Rammstein, Kamelot, In Flames, Apocalyptica and Radiohead. Classical composers I love are the following: Most of the Russian composers (Tschaikovsky, Mussorgski, Rachmaninov, Prokofiev, Rimski-Korsakov, Shostakovich especially), Mahler, Holst, Verdi, Wagner, Elgar, Dvorak, Carl Orff, Bruckner, John Williams, Klaus Badelt and Bernstein. I suppose you can also go to last.fm and look at what bands I listen too, but it tracks just about nothing of the classical music I listen too, I'm afraid. I'm mostly a classical kind of guy, although I've been talked into a few other things. My tastes lean towards the Baroque (and the baroque, generally). Bach, Vivaldi, and Handel, and Telemann are great guys. —Alorael, who should be more specific. They were probably mostly insufferable (although besides Bach they actually have reputations for relative geniality), but they made some fine music and that's what's important. The White Stripes aren't all that famous, I don't think, and I'm not sure those Fillipino bands are known much outside of the Phillipines (or even inside, for all I know). You've definitely heard Queen even if you don't know it was their music. —Alorael, who supposes you're probably the one who can speak for the widespread appeal of Urbandub and Slapshock. Or not, if you so choose. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

Reading the name of the topic, I was sure it was made by a bot. Right now I'm listening to "Heartbeats" by "The Knife". One of my favorite bands. Posts: 57 | Registered: Monday, December 20 2004 08:00 |

Haven't found anything new lately. Faves are probably still Weezer and The Strokes. Meh. EDIT: Actually, I have been listening a bit to Moxy Fruvous, but I don't they will exhibit the same staying power as the former two bands; they'll probably go the way that They Might Be Giants and Barenaked Ladies has gone, which is to say I'm not usually in the mood for either band anymore. Hey, I really like the BNL' latest album. I also really like an acronym with a single apostrophe at the end. Moxy Fruvous was great, but I guess by now they've dwindled for me too, into just the King of Spain on my playlist. Oh, and Green Eggs and Ham. While we're collecting Canadian bands with odd lyrics, what about the Crash Test Dummies? -------------------- We're not doing cool. We're doing pretty. Rock, jazz, metal, classical. Those are the main ones, though I'll give anything a try if it's not rap or hip-hop. I'm not going to attempt to list bands I like as this post would constantly be being edited as I remembered something. I will say though that I have had the song "Heaven Forbid" by the Fray stuck in my head the past few days. -------------------- Do not underestimate the power of the mechanical pencil. To tell you the truth, I've never heard Moxy Fruvous. Just seen Shaun Majumder's impression of Jian Ghomeshi. And I've heard some Crash Test Dummies, but I don't own anything from them. I'm not that big of a music listener at all. Bigger names of what I do have: the Arrogant Worms, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Collective Soul, Dire Straits, John Williams, Great Big Sea, Jonathan Coulton, Metallica, Rush, Van Halen, and Coldplay. -------------------- Never give yourself a haircut after three margaritas. When You're Evil is the only song I've heard by Voltaire. Is the rest of his music that good? -------------------- Do you mind if I sit back a little? Because your breath is very bad. - Donald Trump to Larry King Posts: 1509 | Registered: Tuesday, January 10 2006 08:00 |
