The FSM doesn't punish people who don't believe in him, for instance. You may go insane of your own accord when you die and realize the religion you worked to follow and spread for your entire life was false, but that wouldn't be His fault. If you're not a jerk, maybe he'd even help you out as far as insanity is concerned. The FSM, cheese be upon him, is cool like that. Don't ask him for any favors when he's drunk though. I own a copy of the Gospel, I just bought an eyepatch, I'm considering ordering an FSM symbol pendant depending on how long the chain is and whether I can get a longer one for free somewhere if it's too short, and I'm going to have ramen for dinner tonight. The Gospel, of course, is full of contradictions and blatant lies, as Henderson admits in the foreword. He calls himself a prophet in the foreword, but that's one of those lies he mentioned. To use an analogy to Christianity, he's really more of a one-man Ecumenical Council of Trent than a Moses. I find Discordianism to be a much more compelling faith than the FSM, and the Invisible Pink Unicorn is a compelling underequine in the religious parody genre. —Alorael, who has not eaten a hot dog any time recently, on Friday or otherwise. Is the idea behind Discordianism basically that you should believe, not believe, and/or disregard whatever parts of the theology of Discordianism you choose and/or have forced upon you, and that you should obey, not obey, and/or disregard whatever rules of Discordianism you choose and/or have forced upon you? More simply put, is it basically a religion that is irrelevant unto itself? If this is the case, then presumably it would be possible to be both a Discordian and a Pastafarian at the same time. For reasons that matter and/or don't matter perhaps only to me, I will completely disregard Discordianism, in accordance with its irrelevant principles, thus both being and not being a Discordian at the same time. I guess that what I consider myself is a combination of animist, deist, and agnostic. I beleive that all things [living an unliving] have a "spark" (or network of sparks) of some sort, the difference between inanimate matter, animate, matter, life, sentient life, and beyond, being the complexity, and intraconnected of these sparks. I beleive in a diety, in the sense that ultimately, all of these "sparks" are structurally unified. [if you have a million shards of broken a broken mirror, you don't have a million shards of glass, you have a broken mirror. And I'm an agnostic, since I beleive that the mechanics, complete will, and nature of this "completed deity" are unknowable, at least from our current prespective, and probably from any point contained within its underlying structural network [aka, the universe.] I don't beleive in the supernature, only the unexplained natural. I beleive that the "sparks" are algorithmic in nature, and when compounded exhibit emergent tendancies (giving rise to the complicatory nature of conciousness, *greater conciousness* is built upon *lesser conciousness* the two are not fundamentally different.)
