Maxis released a game called Widget Workshop where you made machines with various parts, and it would tell you the science behind each. I used to love it, but it doesn't run very well on XP, unfortunately.

I remember that, too. I loved making a tangle of wires with three switches. Two of the switches would be "losers" and one would be a "winner" and you'd have to guess the right switch. Tough stuff. I think that The Incredible Machine was a little better, but whatever.
