[Executive brief: Polaris gone. Backup one year old. Replacement forum here. Non-executives read on.] As has been said so often for this particular little community, The System Is Down. This crash is unfortunately one of the more ugly ones this board has experienced; the worst since early 2004. In summary, due to a mixture of incompetence and trigger-happiness from our web host (Hostgator), Polaris has likely lost the year 2006. Everything - posts, topics, new members, private messages, forum settings, even skins such as haven't been backed up - is gone; unless a miracle happens, the last complete backup is from December 30, 2005. Meanwhile, the Interim Forum stands ready as it always has - http://fritze.leukefeld.com/forums . Polaris is a community, not a place: We'll survive this, as we have in the past. We'll save a few scraps and move on. Meanwhile, I hope to welcome all past and present Polarans (and maybe a few future ones) to our home in exile. Despite what you may have heard, we're actually a fun bunch to be around. We discuss, we roleplay, and generally hang out with each other. Our community has been through many years, beautiful times and deep trouble. It's currently the latter but, well, take a look. The domain may take a while to propagate. If you're impatient and tech-savvy you can add 208.113.138.17/polaris.ermarian.net to your hosts file so you can bypass the DNS. Endeavor is down, yes.
