I was going to start an ordinary photo thread and then realized that the last one was only two months back. So here's something new instead.

Photos are to feature landscapes. To broaden the conditions, anything that doesn't feature people as a primary focus goes - including photos of cities, sculptures, sunsets and so on. It may contain persons, but preferably not in the foreground. Oh, and it should be self-made, not googled, of course.

Here's my first one (sorry about the size, I'll shrink it when I have time):

IMAGE(http://stuff.ermarian.net/arancaytar/images/terrain/river_thumb.jpg)

On a side note, I appear to have 6666 posts. But I promised I wouldn't post a new topic to celebrate this, and technically I didn't.

Edit: Shrunk with Picasa. Link to full size.

Congratulations, Arancaytar!

Dikiyoba didn't actually take this picture, but Dikiyoba was standing there when it was taken and was the one who created the PowerPoint it got put it, so it ought to count.

Perhaps the title should have a warning.

Here be horrific scrolling and huge downloads!

This here is an image I took while hanging out of my second story window. The image is only around 100kb so it should be safe enough to put up here.

I live right behind the cliff in background. BTW the picture was taken on an island in the lake.

Just as long as you understand that tool is a title of respect. And congrats, now shrink the damn picture already.

Congratulations for 6666 posts!
Hmm, posting in 2 celebration topics in as many minutes... 500 won't be long...
Well, okay, technically this isn't a celebration topic. But I can still post without having a landscape photo.

Hm... let's see if this works. I've got a few nice shots from the trip I took this August. I want to show off some pictures of St. Louis (i.e.: the Arch and Busch Stadium), but I'm too lazy to shrink 'em right now. And I've got more like these if people care to see.

EDIT: Right, how could I not notice the true intent of this topic?! Congrats, Aran!

It was not! I planned to start a photo thread for some time, and then noticed that I was close, so I used that post to start it. Don't believe those baseless accusations, as if I were someone who celebrated a postcount!

;)

And I care to see, muchly. Those are very nice.

From my bedroom window, and I will resize it as soon as I've posted since I never can tell how big it will be from the preview:

Taking a photo of the sun from a mobile phone while stopped at a red light came out about as badly as might be expected. I could probably get it to look better if I messed around with the colours some more, but I don't have time, so here it is.

I've more pictures in my dA gallery, but this one's my absolute favorite.

What?

Oh. Right.

Well, I didn't post a postcount thread. It wasn't supposed to be one. Honest!

But you're doing a good deed! You're helping Stew Boy get to 500 posts!

Dikiyoba will probably post another landscaping picture here later, just to keep in line with the real intent of the thread.

These grape fields belong to Francis Ford Coppola. Too bad I don't drink. Those mountains in the background and the proximity of the ocean make Napa Valley an ideal place to grow wine grapes.

Here I am helping myself to some of the director's fine crop. Mmm, worthey of an Emperor.

Here's the view from my old house in Montana:

IMAGE(http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y286/ben4808/landscape.jpg)

You can see the Missouri River, about 10 miles after it starts, on the right and the notorious gravel road snaking up the hill on the left.

Unfortunately, my new house is in the middle of town. :(

A picture I took while in the badlands of South Dakota this year. Also my favorite landscape photo I've ever taken.

This one was taken out of the window of our van at 40mph. I really like our digital camera. I need to get it fixed though. The zoom lens won't come out at the moment. I can't take a picture of anything. :(
