Yeah, so a pretty weird topic. But it's a pretty weird thing...

I just realised that each time I click a link on Spiderweb, or each time a new page loads, my status bar in the lower right has the caption "Six o'clock News" above it.

The problem, as it were, is that it shouldn't be doing this right. Whats the dealie?

I'm using AOL v7 (!) and I just did a virus scan so, any ideas guys?

Is this phenomenon limited to Spiderweb? Because that would be odd.

Yeah, it's just on the forums. Google is fine. Wikipedia is fine. My homepage is fine.

I have a screenshot I'll post in a mo...

Edit: Jeez, Louise. Uploading pictures is so tedious... especially on this relic.

Right:

IMAGE(http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e243/SupaNik/b06aa910.jpg)

The image is slightly rubbish, owing to the fact it crashed as it uploaded... But it's clearly visible.

And, it seems to have stopped... Ummm...

Edit 2: Well, it HAS stopped. Must have been a weird one-off. Still, seems a little funny.

Changing your name to look like Imban would work better if you didn't keep your signature. :P

You know, seriously, it is a virus.
AOL isn't really that good, try Norton.

No.My friend bought a state-of-the-art computer with Norton as the anti-virus.Suffice to say Norton makes your computer lag beyond reason.

I second the idea that AOL is unpleasant... I really only use it for AIM at this point (yay for university-supplied email!).

However, I also agree with the sentiment that Norton yields ungodly lags. In fact, most virus scans seem to do that for me (yay for having a Mac and not needing that many scans). One scanning program in particular, which was the LiveUpdate part of Norton (also provided by my university... I don't thank them for it), just sat on my desktop racking up time on the "Time Remaining" bar.

It got to 50 hours before I killed it.

And I also fail to see why Ed here thinks he's a virus expert. Wasn't he asking for help with one a while ago?

AVG is a decent free anti-virus.You can purchase a firewall add-on for it too.

I personally just use AVG and Zone Alarm. They're both free and both pretty decent.

Due to the fact that I'm clueless and don't know a thing about computers, I am of no use to you...

I think I liked the old versions of AOL better. But that was before I switched to Internet Explorer. Yeah, I thought AOL was that bad.

Dikiyoba.

The newer versions of AOL do all sorts of weird things to your computer though. Back whe my parents had AOL, and I had no other recourse, I just installed 6.0 (the oldest version that works on XP), minimized it after installation, and opened up Firefox.

I'd appreciate you wait with the insults until you are able to get people's names right here.
