Yes, Spidweb's demos can be freely distributed. MPOGD - Go here for MMORPGs, though. Not Spidweb. Posts: 3234 | Registered: Thursday, October 4 2001 07:00 |

Planeshift is a free MMORPG, as is Runescape. —Alorael, who would rather not skirt any closer to advertisement on Spiderweb. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

Well, if you don't mind paying a bit (I think it's 7.99$ US/month, but I'm not entirely sure), there's Dofus. http://www.dofus.com/ You can try it for free for one week, though. Only problem is, if you're on Mac, it might not work. I don't know if the problem is their file, or my comp, but when I try to unstuff it, it gives me an error. You could always give it a try, though. It's a 40mb download or so. Looks interesting. If you don't mind cartoony/anime-like graphics. If it works, and you try it, let me know how it is. ;) I've been wanting to try it for a while, but it's not working for me. I'm waiting for a newer version, and hoping that works. -------------------- "Take time to listen to what is said without words, to obey the law too subtle to be written, to worship the unnameable and to embrace the unformed." -- Lao Tzu Posts: 124 | Registered: Monday, September 26 2005 07:00 |

In Runescape everyone is killing each other (I mean the people, not the NPC). I bumped into a guy by accident, so he attacked me; turns out I was a better fighter. If I die will I lose all of my equipment? -------------------- Nena Posts: 2032 | Registered: Wednesday, January 26 2005 08:00 |

quote:Personally, I don't understand the vehemence of some people against it. I admit, it's not the greatest game I've played, but even if it's not your thing I don't see why some people hate it to such an extent. To Dolphin: You keep your three most valuable items when you die and everything else drops to the ground. If you die in a spot with little traffic it's possible to run back to the site of your death and pick up your items before some one else gets them. Also, other players can only attack you in the wilderness. It sounds like you may have actually bumped into an NPC. -------------------- Take the Personality Test! The game itself isn't all too good but that alone isn't reason enough to hate it. A lot of the hate is for the community that is there. Although there are a few good people scattered here and there most of them are just a pain and the majority of people try to scam new people out of everything they have. I admit you have to be sort of stupid to fall for it but it's still really annoying. Maybe it's changed since I tryed to play (which was a fair while ago) but when I played it it seemed as much fun as hurling myself out of a moving car into a large metal spike. quote:Are you sure PCs can attack you in town? So woman walked up and attacked me, and I ended up winning that fight too. The some guy attacked me in the woods, and he won (taking me for everything but my sword and shield). I lost my fishing net, matches, and some food :( This game is alright, but some of the people playing it are harsh. -------------------- Nena Posts: 2032 | Registered: Wednesday, January 26 2005 08:00 |

I am entirely certain that PC's cannot attack you in town. In town, there are plenty of NPC's (woman, man, guard) that you will automatically attack if you left-click on them. If you want to do other things with them you right-click for the options. Between towns there are plenty of NPC's that will attack you. If you stick to the roads you can usually avoid them. I'm one of the scattered few that are willing to help new people. Add archmagealex to your freinds list and tell me when you are going to be on (MST) and I'd be happy to take 5 mins to set you up with some nice armor and weapons. -------------------- Take the Personality Test! Yes, the community is very harsh in Runescape. But part of the fun of the game is messing with the scammers. Contradict everything they say with logic and drive off all their potential victims. -------------------- "We can learn a lot from crayons. I'm actually a player moderator on RuneScape lol. Speaking of RuneScape, someone should make a Blades of Exile version of it. :P -------------------- Please visit my website: http://geocities.com/dchia1010 my forums: http://freechat.tk Posts: 76 | Registered: Wednesday, January 30 2002 08:00 |
