Yet again the board is broken by the kiddies abusing it. An error has occurred:

Tried to open zero-sized topic 001966 in forum 1. at CGIPath/ubb_lib_files.cgi line 777.

Please inform the board administration of this error so that they may fix the problem. Thank you!

Would you please work on a solution to the chain quoting that seems to cause this. The "suggestions" thread appears to be where the problem exists.

Perhaps a revision to the CoC to define "locking" the topic in the manner RC did as a minor infraction...?

JUST a minor infraction?

The last time somebody forced a topic to be locked, they were banned.

Yes, but considering what the topic was, RC should get a medal.

EDIT: Yay, 600 ^_^

Yeah, but still, I did promise not to do it and still did it...my bad on my part. I don't think the actual code dump was the cause of this error...in fact, I'm quite certain of it. If I just outright go and post the code in this topic right now, it will not cause the error. The board still should be fixed with an upgrade or something.

When was that, exactly?

US Conflict Avatars. SMoE forced the mods to lock it by being an utter and complete asshole resulting in being banned for a month, but seeing how it COULD be locked and didn't break the boards, your offense becomes infintely more egregious by comparison.

And the topic still lived on afterwards. Go figure!

Yeah, I remember the 11 posts in a row thing in that topic. But see, the thing is, the difference between the topic that he locked and the one that I locked was the content. What was wrong with pointing out what conflicts the US had previously with other countries? Did it break the CoC in any way? Now turn back to the suggestions topic which had the following:

Minor infractions:

+ Posting unauthorized copyrighted material (sadly, it was me)
+ Using vulgarity in any language (whether it's in the open, masked, or abbreviated)

Major Infractions:

+ Any communication that is intended to harass, belittle, humiliate, threaten or cause embarrassment to a fellow member.
+ Hate speech against a certain group of people, due to their religion, sex, sexual orientation, nationality, etc.
+ Flooding the forums with lots of topics and posts about nothing legitimate.

I still shouldn't have done it as it did put a cramper in the board for 24hrs on Today's Active Posts (or by the end of today) and on the topic permenantly.

SMoE didn't lock a bad topic. He spammed a perfectly good topic because he personally disliked it. That was bad.

RC deliberately locked a topic that deserved to die long before it did. Everyone involved in the third page should be run over by an SUV, and anyone still moving should be run over again.

In conclusion, while circumventing the mods and causing errors is bad, sometimes a topic absolutely, positively must be nuked immediately.

—Alorael, who would rather not see any more superlockings in the near future. However, if the topic hadn't been superlocked, it would have been locked. There wasn't exactly valuable conversation taking place at the end.

I disagree. Always wait for a moderator to lock/cleanse/delete the topic.

RC, you did promise to never to do that again, and you have no idea how much trouble topics like that cause administrators - they block pruning, stat file rebuilding, and more.

There will be punishments doled out, and you will be among the ones punished.

And fortunately for me, I didn't post one of those posts that started off with 7 quotes and stretched the page enough as it was. Not to mention page 4 and the code. ^_^

Yes. I went through the third page very quickly. tp, dr (too pointless, didn't read) Same thing with the fourth page. ^_^ Oh well, I'm not going to write a rant, but I say we should all vote on what RC's punishment should be.

;_;

Please, ben.

Even juries don't vote on punishment. Drakefyre will do something appropriate. Can't you keep your nose out of anything? Or at least put your nose in charmingly.

Quoting and page-stretching, while annoying, is not what caused the problem.
