I once too owned goldfishes, but one day I walked over to my tank to find them floating. I actually thought they were sleeping because I didn't know that means they're dead, but I soon figured it out :(

You probably didn't pump enough air into the water, and they sufficated.

Poor goldfish. :(

:( Ohh. It happened to me once with tadpoles. Water animals are ticklish to hold.

Today I was on the point to rescue a nice, lemon green budgie. I saw him in the middle of the city, he was following some sparrows. And I had him already sitting on a little stick - but he flew away. <v_v>. Somebody will miss him sadly ...

Also, hi Chaosfox! Nice to see somebody having back his original name. Is Bully still living with you? Maybe you should hit his nose with a paperstick, he has to learn, who is the alpha dog.

I used to have a Dalmation, she died last year.

If I could have any pet, I'd have a lion, as long as it was cooperative and didn't eat me when it got hungry. :)

Maybe in your imagination. :P

Looks like a lot of pets are dying off (or at least a goldfish and a dog). The ultimate anwer: "If a pet dies, go get another one."

I wonder what would happen if a depressed goth had a pet that it really liked, and then it died...

Why he/she would have a pet is beyond me, but it's possible.

But they are. A life is a life is a life, and I see no reason to distinguish between sentient lives with distinct personalities.

Originally written by Jeremy Bentham:

The day may come, when the rest of the animal creation may acquire those rights which never could have been withholden from them but by the hand of tyranny. The French have already discovered that the blackness of the skin is no reason why a human being should be abandoned without redress to the caprice of a tormentor (see Lewis XIV's Code Noir). It may come one day to be recognized, that the number of the legs, the villosity of the skin, or the termination of the os sacrum, are reasons equally insufficient for abandoning a sensitive being to the same fate. What else is it that should trace the insuperable line? Is it the faculty of reason, or, perhaps, the faculty of discourse? But a full-grown horse or dog is beyond comparison a more rational, as well as a more conversable animal, than an infant of a day, or a week, or even a month, old. But suppose the case were otherwise, what would it avail? the question is not, Can they reason? nor, Can they talk? but, Can they suffer?
Not too long ago, most people would have said the same thing about black people that you're now saying about animals. Worth keeping in mind.

My opinion of you is held far below animals. Them and microscopic organisms.

The Egyptians worshipped cats, did they not?

Dammit! An invasion of small, furry and cute animals!

At least no pink has been involved yet. Otherwise there'd be trouble...

Yes, but some, like viruses, are bad.

I guess I should rephrase that. I hold you below the scum of the earth. The bad scum.

I have three cats and two cockateils.
The oldest cat is KitKat, a splotchy-brown, very friendly cat. I think she's between 10 and 12 years old. She used to be a stray. We adopted her when we found her hiding in the bushes in the front yard with a litter of kittens. There were three of them there. Another one had its head ripped off by a dog or hawk. Two of the three in the bushes were hit by cars. The other one is living with my uncle. She had a litter of kittens, and one of them became a father. KitKat had three litters before she was spayed.
The next one we got is Mousie, who is about 5 years old. She's a rather large grey cat. She is very fat and sleeps most of the day. When she's awake though, she is very noisy. She doesn't meow or purr though. She says "MYEEEeeeEeeEEEEHH! MYEH!"
The last one is Kitty, who we got from my mother's boyfriend. She is very affectionate. When she wants attention, she wants attention now. She rubs up against everyone's legs and purrs very loudly.
The birds are Waldo and Cookie. Waldo is about 14 years old. Cookie is about 10, I think. Waldo lets me pet him, but Cookie just bites me. Cookie is missing a knuckle and claw on one of his feet.
