RULES: Seeing how this is the third (and simplest, might I add) Arena-based RP attempted, I'll try to make the rules so simple that people not joining due to the complexity of the rules becomes a near-impossibility. So here they are... http://www.sitemouse.com/users/drakefyre/rulesxiii.html You will make a monster or use one of the monsters given (see link at end), give it a name and a brief description. Battles will be between the party(s) and monsters made by the plot's owner. If you don't know how to run an arena match, contact myself or someone else who knows how to run matches (Imban is another) to run it for you. For every battle won, the party recieves 25 more points per member to use as they see fit. Points may be saved to use later. At to time may any statistics be subtracted, although an ability in one catergory may be changed into another (that means that you may turn Paralysis Ray into Petrification Ray, but not Paralysis Ray into Heat Ray). If the party loses, then all members start over at 600 points or half of their existing points rounded to the nearest 25 (whichever is greater). Plot owners are suggested to not make plots where the world rests on the party's shoulers so that loss becomes feasible. A plot is over whenever the plot owner (or the vast majority of players) says so, or when the party dies (no party means no plot). Take turns, please! I will be the owner of the first plotline, but it will be a short one (aka one battle), just so that people unfamiliar with how this works may become accustomed to it. ================ Story Arc 1 - Intro SCENE: Small Town in S. Doston, Applegrove The mayor is sitting in a humble, white-washed brick building, sitting on a wooden chair before a wooden meeting table, speaking with a fancier-dressed official. Mayor George: Hello, ex-General Montiman Oliver. Oliver: Hello, old friend. I see you still support the brutal foundation. Both of them chuckle. Mayor George: You've been feeling better since you came back from Pralgad. Oliver: Yes... Silence. Mayor George: Well, as you know, the nearby town of Sidford is being besieged by bandits, and they're running out of food. If the bandits get ahold of the iron mines, then we're in deep trouble. The steel foundry there should make them even deadlier than they already are. Oliver: You know that I can't stand the Empire, but that doesn't mean I won't assist a group of stranded civillians from their preadators. Mayor George: You're a good man, that's why I brought you here. The mayor reaches under the table and produces a large sac of coins. Mayor George: I give you two-thousand coins. Use these to buy yourself some adventurers. Your task is rather simple, especially for a genius fighter and tactician like yourself. There are two merchants with wagons of food with them, eager to trade fairly and generously with the people of Sidford. It's not far to the north, I trust you should be able to make it. Oliver: Easilly. Thanks for the he-- Mayor George: And one final warning. These bandits are vicious- don't take them lightly! Oliver: Of course. Mayor George: Very well. You are dismissed. Oliver: Thank you. ================ Oliver went searching around the fairly large city, looking for adventurers. As Oliver was searching around town, immediately after finding Manes, he was met by a man wearing, well, pink armor. Introducing himself as Daystar, he explained that he was bored with just sitting around town all day, and would much rather leave on a quest. And so he asked to join up with Montiman Oliver and his merry band. =Daystar, the Knight of the Rose= Type Undead Level 6 (+60) [60] HP 192 (+192) [252] Skill 10 (+50) [302] Speed 6 (+100) [402] Att 20d1 20d1 20d1 (+120) [522] Paralysis Touch (+65) [587] Imm --c- (+13) [600] Wears reddish-pink metal armor with no helmet except for a circlet of the same metal with two wings going back from the sides of it. Only one per person (barring plot-related NPCs), though if we don't have enough people, I might extend it to two. Bob, you will find that ironing out the flaws in Pingu will leave you with GhoulsRUs (magic immunity) or Knight of the Rose mkXIII (no magic immunity). Hatake Kakashi- You're 27 points under. I added cold resistance for you, which costs a whopping 1 point with your 12 speed. My personal suggestion would be to lower your melee skill and increase the damage you can do. Plus, 12 speed is unnecessary for a bruiser. You can do equally well with only 10. Although for a first-timer, not bad. -------------------- We're all amazed but not amused By all the things that you said you'd do. I think it's set. I'll start the first match. ================ It's dark. The forests en route to Sidford are thick, and the path makes the party feel isolated and helpless towards attack. Montiman Oliver at the front leads the two merchant wagons, constantly checking for signs of danger. Unfortunately, the sounds of both the party and the wind rustling the trees meant that all means of tracking enemy were unusable, and the party felt like sitting ducks. Rasputin: How long until Sid-- Oliver: Hush. Daystar: It can't be that-- Oliver: Hush! Uriah: I'd reckon it's-- Oliver: Will you all be quiet!!! This forest is up to its neck in bandits, and the wagons are forcing us to trot along this road like a bunch of sitting ducks. If any of us raise our voices, then they'll be on us in an instant, you bloody fools!!! Rock Lee: For telling us to be quiet, you're plenty loud yourself. Oliver Montiman gasps, and turns around frantically. Noone is to be seen. Daystar: Nobody is the-- Suddenly, Daystar ducked out of instict, as three beams of flame soared over him, striking Rasputin soundly thrice [20+20+10]. The party turned around to see a large bandit raiding party at their backs. Battle: Party vs. 3x Bandit Mage, 4x Bandit Warrior, 5x Bandit Winning Conditions: Defeat of all enemies Losing Conditions: Defeat of party, defeat of both merchants Other Conditions: Rasputin starts the battle at 70 HP. (I rolled a dice to figure out which party member would take 50 damage. It turned out to be him.) I'll run this match now. -------------------- We're all amazed but not amused By all the things that you said you'd do. As Rasputin was struck by the flames, both Daystar and Uriah Man picked up their weapons and charged at the enemy, cutting a path to the magi with their weapons. Unfortunately, they were quickly overwhelmed by the flames, and were hurled back unconcious. The Magi hurled even more fire at Manes, burning his fur, causing him to run about in hysteria. Montiman Oliver raced to the right in order to flank the bandits. Mrs. Potato began radiating flames while hasting herself and advancing on the opponent, while Rock Lee took the true initiative of a martial artist by charging at the bandits, hitting them repeatedly with a melee that was ineffective. Rasputin stumbled around a bit, still stunned from the burns. The magi aimed their beams at Mrs Potato, but she didn't seem harmed at all from the flames. In retaliation, she covered the bandits with webs and a noxious gas that made them cough and wheeze. Montiman Oliver swung his sword once, slicing two bandits cleanly in half, but opening himself up to being burned by the magi. Which he was. He toppled over unconcious. Rock Lee kept on using Taijutsu on the bandits, but failed to realize that blocking swords is more difficult than blocking fists. A jab to the gut sent him in shock. Two bandit warriors walked over to one of the merchant's wagons and began harassing it, as the magi approached the second. Mrs. Potato lept in their path. Unfortunately for her, the oxen pulling the merchant's wagon had gone out of control. She sidestepped to the left in order not to be crushed, but alas, the remaining bandits most decidedly got in the wagon's way, and began pummeling it. Thinking fast, Mrs. Potato did absolutely nothing. The magi blew up the first wagon of food, and fired at Mrs. Potato. Fortunately, Mrs. Potato summoned a group of slimes that covered one of the magi, killing her. The bandits tried fighting off the slimes. Mrs. Potato summoned a group of wolves that pounced over the magi, killing them. Finally, she finished off the remaining warriors with a few flame spells. Party- 5 Bandits- 1 The others slowly began to get up. Thankfully, none were dead, although most were injured. They made their way safely into Sidford the next morning. =============== IM me/post your additions to your monster. Intresting Combat. I have a question. Do special abilities like acid spiting, paralisis, sleeping breath or petrification count as magic? If so, would that mean all these abilities are useless agains magic inmune creatures? EDIT: Also, If a mage casts fire or ice bolt, does it couunt as magic or its respective element, or both?
