BTW, Universe_JDJ, what is your leadership level and afiliation? I wonder if Thihn is senistive and only reponds to loyal shapers and not rebals?

Hi All,

I just ran into a very nice fellow in the Acidic Vally by the name of "Thihn". He's an undead shaper who wants to have a chat before he wipes the floor with my corpse. The Question I have is this: Should I go ahead and kill him or reload the game and return with a higher leadership? He seems to offer the chance to render assitance to you, but my measly 5 leadership just seem to create talking options that end up angering him. If I should return with a higher leadership, what leadership score should I have before I return and what will I get from Thihn by returning to him rahter than the 40xp I get from killing him?

Selling Items? in Geneforge Series

All,

I've been playing through the demo and now have a cache of expensive items. So is there any place to sell crystals, shaper equiptment, bars of iron, armour and the like for more $$$ than 25% of the item value?

On a related note, is it safe to sell my beutifal and lovely shards or will they be needed later in the game?

Real Arcade? in Geneforge Series

Hi JadeWolf,

RealARcade works for me very well. MY core problem is that I work from home performing software QA. So I never know what computer I have time to play games on. With Geneforge, I have to hastle with the activation code. With Real ARcade, I can load the system onto my main windows box (which is forever having it's OS re-installed), my laptop (Which is forever getting sent back to HQ for maintaince), and my Linux box (under Vmware). Then I can Rsync the saves directory and can thus play the game on whatever computer is free for my use. I can even take the game (in progress) along on a road trip.

So REal Arcade's (henceforth known as, RA) packaging method works allot better for me and how I play games.

I should note that I already purchased GeneForge 1 from spider web. Then I got Geneforge 1 again and Geneforge 2 from RA. IT would be rather cool for me when GF 3 gets to RA. Even better if BoA eveer makes it to RA

Hi All,

One more file needed to backed up:
%windrive%\Program Files\Geneforge 2\Data\GF2Prefs.dat

This contains the registration number. Please note that your registration number is OS dependant. I changed OS's and had to email spiderweb for the new registration number.

Hi,

I have Geneforge2 installed on a Win98SE system. I need to back the game data up so I can transfer the saved games to a new system. Currently it seems that backing up
%windrive%\Program Files\Geneforge 2\Data\Save[0..9]?

will do the trick. Are there other files that I need to backup so I do not loose any data? BTW, I already have the download and registration code.

Geneforge 1.0.1 (Real Arcade) Map problem in Tech Support

Hi All,

Quite correct. "Thuryl" changed his/her/it's moniker on me. BTW, I am now clueful. That the world view is diamond shaped and the map is a square does make a sort of Euclidean sense. It also goes a long way in explaining the background coordinate system used by the game. At least the designers did not see fit to project the map onto polar space or something like that ;>=

P.S. This is one cool game! I do think I'll buy Geneforge II when I'm finished with Geneforge I.

Hi Thuryl,

Thnaks for your note. I guess the best way to express problem is this:

If I move to LEFT (west) on my screen, the dot on map moves Down (south) in the map view. One would expect the dot to move in sync with the main screen and move to the left (west).

Thanks!

Hi All,

I recently Purchased Geneforge 1.0.1 at Real Arcade and noticed a rather interesting problem with the map display. If I head tword the top of the screen on player view I should be heading "north" from the player's frame of reference. However the side map show me heading "east" from the maps' frame of reference. As a card caring certified dyslexic this causes some confusion ;> Is this a bug or a feature? If it's a bug, will there be a fix?

TIA

Sam, Smyling at the pretty blood splats.

P.S. Keep up the good work!
