In terms of great music, how can it be that no one has mentioned Cowboy Bebop? I'm a big jazz fan, and I think this show is the cat's meow! I mean, come on, how many other shows are going to nod to the obvious genius of Charlie Parker and then deliver a beautifully put together work of art, mixed liberaly with all kinds of great tunes?? EDIT - Sorry Mansex, that'll teach me to skim when first I ought to read :-) Also, I think you might enjoy Joshoua Redman's work as well, if you're not already familiar. Truly an excellent sax player. And yeah, Steely Dan is always excellent! Amidst all of the shouting, gunfire, plasma discharges and general chaos, there sat a lone figure puffing on a briar pipe and knitting his brows in an enigmatic fashion. He wore an ancient military parka, and his features vaguly resembled Grizzly Adams. This was the mysterious interloper Casey Jones. With a flambouyant flourish he smacked the table and began to orate: "By God, I have seen a lot of insanity in my day, but nothing that could compare to this utterly random selection of misfits, ne'er-do-wells and hottentots! This ship is a disaster looking for an excuse to happen! In the short time I've been among you people I've been attacked three times by little metal beings that seem to want to clean me, I've nearly been shot by stray gunfire, and my hat is missing! Where are we? Where are we going? Who is that fellow with the crowbar, and just what does he intend to do with it?!" With a loud "harumph," he sank back into his chair and began to contentedly puff away on his pipe. In a moment he was again lost in thought, starring fixedly out the window. The other passengers gradually returned to their conversation, while still giving the stranger the occasional odd look. "Just who IS he, anyhow?" "I don't know, I didn't see him get on. He just sort of wandered in here." -------------------- Learn About The Man Behind the Messiah. Posts: 137 | Registered: Tuesday, July 22 2003 07:00 |

Down a long hallway leading to the caro bay, a door which heretofore had remained closed creaked open. Catiously, a long shaggy head peaked out and surveyed the hallway. Seeing no one in sight, the door swung wide open, revealing a room scented heavily with thick, pungent smoke and a record player wailing out old Zepplin tunes. A ratty mattress and some blankets lay in a corner, and posters from various muscial acts such as the Grateful Dead and Parliment lined a majority of the wall space. "Damn, who redecorated the commune?" Yes, emerging from his long solitude at last was the aging beatnik, Casey Jones. But in what strange place has this itinerant philosopher of the streets found himself? With what strange beings will this laidback hippie spread his folksy brand of wisdom? Only time, and a strong pot of coffee may tell.... [ Friday, September 05, 2003 13:09: Message edited by: CaseyJones ] -------------------- Learn About The Man Behind the Messiah. My favorite by far was Exile II. I can honestly say that i sunk 200-300 hours of time into playing it over my summer vacation. The last game I found to be that transfixing was FF7 on Playstation, so Exile II ranks way, way up there for me. However, if you've gotten used to the many luxuries and amenities that the Avernum series has to offer, you might find the look of the Exile games to be somewhat repellant. My friends all laugh when they see me playing it, but I like to think of it as an aquired taste, like fine wine or cheese. Oh well. Go your own way and forge a path with your footsteps.
