Once I got a little ways into the game, I knew it was the vanatai. Though I think I knew before I started playing. Did anyone else guess? -------------------- I can transform into almost anything, though not sanity. My brother tried to type something here. I just erased it. Yeah, when the game first came out it went kinda like this. Everyone: Gee, I wonder if Rentar-Ihrno's Vahnatai will be the villains in Avernum 4. Drakey: It's not the Vahnatai. Stareye: It's the Vahnatai. Drakey: Oh wait, it's the Vahnatai after all. Everyone: Damn you, Jeff! By the time you finish Motrax's Lair, you should have a pretty good idea. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power! Posts: 3726 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

By the time you finish Avernum 3, you should have a pretty good idea. I don't really think it was supposed to be a mystery. -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |

The game would have been better if the Darkside Loyalists had been the main villans. They could have been working with a Vahnatai sect out to eliminate the other races from the caves and leaving the Loyalists in control of the surface. After all the Vahnatai don't function well up there. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

I guess the Darkside Loyalists would have been better than Rentar II, but I don't find them a very compelling villain either. The one upside would be the potential to resurrect the Scimitar. -------------------- Slarty vs. Desk • Desk vs. Slarty • Timeline of Ermarian • G4 Strategy Central Posts: 3560 | Registered: Wednesday, November 7 2001 08:00 |

Yeah, I feel like the Scimitar basically got robbed of a decent role in most of the games... -------------------- Thuryl: "Runescape: for people who are too stupid to save their games." Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. Posts: 4130 | Registered: Friday, March 26 2004 08:00 |

The Darkside Loyalists would have been better than the vahnatai if they were developed properly. The vahnatai were more or less Rentar being a villain because she is now an inveterate villain who kicks puppies and whips kittens. —Alorael, who is sure she has put as much effort into a spell that makes magical feet to kick puppies as X has put into his anvil. It's tough being an abuser of cute animals when you're a rock on a pedestal. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

Darkside Loyalists seemed almost tacked on to the games as a more organized group of bandits. A little more work and they could have been a real challenge. They would have been a new force in the game series. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |
