For some reason, if I put custom floors or terrains into the Terrain Graphics File, then Blades of Avernum crashes whenever I try to enter a scenario, whether it's the one I'm working on or someone else's. I haven't tampered with the permanant files, and the problem goes away when I remove the custom images. Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong? If it helps, I use a Mac. -------------------- The martian squirrel invasion is comming... Posts: 15 | Registered: Tuesday, June 14 2005 07:00 |

You should make a custom graphics file instead - the game is not used to more resources than it originally has. -------------------- "At times discretion should be thrown aside, and with the foolish we should play the fool." - Menander ==== Drakefyre's Demesne - Happy Happy Joy Joy Encyclopedia Ermariana - Trapped in the Closet ==== You can take my Mac when you pry my cold, dead fingers off the mouse! Custom graphics go in the scenario folder, not the Data folder. EDIT: In case that's not how it works on a Mac, I'll rephrase it. You're putting the custom graphics in the same file as the graphics that come with BoA, right? You don't do that. You put them with the scenario they're supposed to be used with. And Drakey posted while I was posting. I myself haven't really done anyhting with floors (although I will do it), but if you work on a Windows, Don't you have to make a bmp file and give it a number like this: G(number).bmp? They work exactly like terrain types. Are you sure you made a correct script? I also had an error like this, but it was on my Mac. if you made a resource file, the Windows doesn't use it. That's what you have to make for the Mac. For windows just the bmp file a mentioned above. If the program crashes whenever you try to use the floortype, according to my experience it definetly has something to do with the scenario's datascript. if there's an error, the editor wouldn't recognize the graphic ans dometimes even quit. EDIT: As others said before me: Don't put the graphics in the game's resource files. make the bmp file i mentioned (but cut all the white around the graphic! or just move it to the upper left corner) and on Mac make an editional resource file. Both (bmp and resource) have to go in the scenario folder that YOU made for your OWN scenario, just like all the .txt files.
