I think it's time to have one. If anyone has suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

Personally, I see it working like the last BoE graphic competition (except without my laziness ;) ). People submit graphics into these categories:

Original Creatures (Monsters, PCs AND NPCs- I see no reason to separate them)
Edited Creatures
Original Floors
Edited Floors
Original Terrains
Edited Terrains
Items (I'm combining Original and Edited for this category- let me know if you object)
Dialogue Pics
Original Splash Screens

Any suggestions/edits you would like to make are welcome. I'd like to be able to make an announcement before the end of July, as to give people plenty of summer time to submit.

I've also considered letting all custom BoA graphics in, including those that we've already seen. Sure, they're nothing new, but considering how tough these SOBs are to make... Again, please make with the suggestions.

Sounds good, I mean, the Edited ones you can do in less than ten minutes each sheet.

What will the prizes be?

* Spiderweb game?
* Cash?
* Fame?

I think the prizes for every previous graphics competition have just been fame. They're more of a thing to generate new graphics / interest in BoA.

Good.

I didn't really want to be accepting cash (if I did win) just for editing / making a few new pictures.

Also - Do edits from different games (Not Avernum) count as Edits or as Mades?

You wouldn't want to accept cash? Wow. I mean, morals, okay, but turning down money? You be insane! ;)

I would take an educated guess that edits are edits are edits, regardless of where the originals came from.

You couldn't become an Archmagi of Avernum without morals, unfortunately. And I was meaning kind of, edit the pics in Geneforge 2 (I've already edited most), and put them into BoA format.

Would that count as an original or not?

In my opinion, they'd be edits.

Original graphics, by my definition, are completely original..

Also TM, expect me to submit something soon. Sure, it'll be horrid, but hey, at least I'd given it a shot! :P

I need to brush up my graphics. They were messed up by the JPEG format.

Micael, "archmagi" is plural. "Archmage" is the singular form.

Yeah, Whatever. And Archmagi sounds better. Different races call it different things anyway. Look in other games. Archmagi can be Plural or Singular

I'll see what I can do about a game prize, although since JV only gave 1 game out for a scenario competition... Nah, I doubt there'll be a game/monetary award. If somebody wins all (or maybe an overwhelming amount) of the categories, we'll see. Otherwise, no.

The point of this competition is basically me being greedy- I want decent graphics, so I can make my scenarios pretty. ;) Not saying that graphic artists aren't famous- Luz will probably enter the HoF, and Tim Farland has been nominated 3-4 times for it.

If nobody has any objections, I'll post the rules. I'm hoping that a deadline hovering somewhere around late Sep. or early Oct.

Well,

Be sure to tell me when to start. I mean, I can't win any of the 'EDIT' categories without knowing the second we're meant to start - can I? :D

First, archmagi is DEFINITELY plural. Archmagus is the singular, although archmage is the more common synonym.

Second, you can START at any time. Start now. TM is still deciding on the DEADLINE.

Yay I'm back.

Some of you may remember my BOE graphics.

Has a deadline been set yet? I would quite like to enter.

Anything major happened since i departed (except BOA of course)?

Edit: I meant to mention I'm asking because the BOA graphics comp link at the top of the board doesnt work for me.
