Except A4/5 and GF4 won't work on it.

Actually, you're probably not missing out on much apart from GF4, and even then it's not too bad.

Edit: P.S. Truth does not equal beauty.

Huh. Geneforge 4 works well with Windows 2000. And I know I've played the other games. What doesn't work well with W2k is the stuff designed for Vista or XP.

Oh. I know Windows 98 won't play the newer games, but I didn't know 2000 would.

MicroSoft XP SP3 RC2 (final) from Windows Update released Apr 21 2008. I've updated both my XP machines smooth as silk. You can wait till the 29th and get it as a critical update.
My iMac notes this event with simple laughter. Meanwhile, the Windows machine on the other side of the room is unimpressed, as it still uses Windows 2000 Professional.

So you walk on the Wilde side, then?

So anyway, I've looking into both XP and Windows, and my conclusions are as follows:

All reviews I read say the same: "if you don't really need Vista, stick with XP." and "Vista SP1 comes with its own problems". Besides, I saw that some software I'd want to run (some payware Flight Simulator aircrafts) don't have Vista patches, so I think I'll keep with XP for now. Seems a lot simpeler...

Wow, your machines sound almost human! :P

If you wrote that as a razz because you thought I came across as smug, I was just happy. XP till 2014 and nothing to buy! Woo hoo! :D

P.S. It upgraded to SP3 smoothly, but reset everything to defaults. So... For a week now I keep finding somnething to tweak back.
Later...
