Skribbane? It is an herb in Avernum 3.
It restores some of your health and sp, but it is addictive.

Since it is addictive, it is probably best to stay away from it in Avernum 3.

How do you make something addictive in an rpg?

You'll find that avoiding using it after the first time reduces your character's effectiveness. It first appears in Exile 3. Avernum 3 is the remake.

You have a choice of keep using it to get through the game or going cold turkey.

What happens if you get addicted, but you start to not use it?

You start losing HP and spell energy. If you wait long enough, the addiction eventually wears off.

Wow, that sounds tough. It's almost too realistic, but then some realism is nice. Hmmm, desicions desicions.

I agree. A little realism is alright. That kind of reality in a game is quite refreshing. It emitts this sense that the game is real. It's quite intriguing.

The most critical piece of information is still missing. What is skribbane? Delicious!

—Alorael, who also supposes it's a gimmick, but now it's a slightly dusty gimmick.

At least you aren't talking trash about moderators in the Blades of Avernum forum.
