I wonderd for a while now while playing the more recent Avernum games.
Whatever happend to the funny pictures you got with your skill sets?
Did the licensing agreement with Studio Foglio run out or did Spiderweb software get too many angry e-mails, telling them "The pictures must go" (unlikely though), or is there yet another, more sinister and darker reason for the lack of Skill Pictures?

It's probably because of the switch to the new engine, which is based on Geneforge. If you notice, Geneforge doesn't have skill pictures either.

EDIT: While this isn't really that important, this thread probably belongs in the Avernum 4 Forum.

I tried to think of something witty to put here.

Needless to say, I failed.

I too was saddened by the loss of the pictures. They made me really get in to Foglio's stuff. But, the game works without them so it's not that big of a deal.

Well, each to his own, I guess.
I´m someone who likes to look out for these little details.Of course that may be because there´s not much to complain about in the Avernum series. ;)

Well, Girl Genius is an absolute must. That one can never be too much. In fact, I wouldn't mind if it was much more. Oh so much more. *_*

It is delicious reading and one would never regret wast- spending their time reading it over and over again. Now everyone click the link. You know you want to.

Here's to Jägers! ^^

Or just get them online. I ordered two books from the Foglios and am happy to say I got them really fast - in about two weeks, after they said to expect them in four. :)

But if I get them in a store, there is the chance that someone other than me will pay for them.
Yay mooching!

Some people complained that the humorous Foglio art detracted from the mood of Avernum, but I love those illustrations and wouldn't mind having them reappear in later Avernums or Geneforges. Divinely Touched is priceless.

—Alorael, who also liked collecting new skills both for new skills and to see what beautiful art came with them. And he always got a thrill when looking at the skills in a new Avernum. Yes, he is clearly a primary candidate for disappearing forever if he clicks on the Girl Genius link.

Don't be afraid, Alorael. Join us. The longer you wait, the more pages there will be to read.

Exactly. You wouldn't have to deal with the agony of waiting a day before a new comic comes. (Just about 6 more hours till new pages are posted, why is it taking so long, 6 hours is forever *_*)

Three times a week. The new pages are one of the highlights of the day - it's the best webcomic I'm reading right now.

Well at least they update them exactly when Friday starts.
I read them before I go to bed.

Romance, adventure, Mad Science and a main character with big glasses, what can go wrong? ;)

Actually, while I read it intermittently, I've decided that I'll hold off on seriously following it until the 101 catches up with the Advanced Class section. Or that's my excuse, anyway.

—Alorael, whose webcomic habit has reached critical proportions. They take so little time individually, yet collectively they're a time sink. He even began to (gasp) cull the comics that just aren't worth reading anymore.

I've lost track of how many I read.
It might help if I bookmark all of them.

I have uneven bookmarks, since I use two computers. But the biggest list is on my other computer. All put together I must have around 100 liks already, not counting those on my 'To be read' -list. :\ But I only check about 30 or 40 at least once every week. I'm always ready for more comics, if anyone has any good ones in mind...

I love webcomics! :)

I have a list of some (not even close to most, may miss a few damned good ones) on my homepage. I need to update it, I know it doesn't have GG yet... >:\

Girl Genius is good.
I started reading comics with Daily Dinosaur Comics and moved on to White Ninja, Dr. Mcninja, The PBF and xkcd.
The PBF is not child friendly.

If you want a list of good comics check out buzzcomics.com

And of course there are the classics like Vgcats, and pennyarcade.com and some other ones I can't think of right now.

:Edit: All the links work now!

:Edit2: Nice choice in comics Riibu. But your link to No Rest For the Wicked doesn't work.

To mooching!

Edit: As far as webcomics go, I read PvP, General Protection Fault, Ctrl+Alt+Del, Penny Arcade, Order of the Stick, Questionable Content, Applegeeks, VG Cats, 8-Bit Theater, and Little Gamers. I haven't read Girl Genius before, but I'll be sure to check it out.

Let's see... besides a very recent interest in Girl Genius, Dikiyoba reads Order of the Stick, 8-Bit Theater, and Dinosaur Comics.

Andraste: Apparently that and the two below do indeed have absolutely.. wrong links. I shall fix this immediately and add more good ones! Thanks for pointing it out.

To comics!

Dinosaur Comics fans unite!

And Alorael, I heard that GG 101 isn't supposed to catch up to advanced until late next year. Do you really want to wait that long?
