Hi

I just finished (pc version)Fable The Lost chapters....By the last battle I was totally bored by the carpel tunnel hack and slash.....The game had a lot of extras like flexing and flirts that absolutely had no effect on the main campaign.....

I would think a large outfit like Lionhead would have put some RPG depth into the game......I was very disappointed....Well..That's why I keep coming back to Jeff's games..

Woah, deja-vu.

I'm sure someone else said much the same thing only last week...

Edit: OK, 2 minor corrections: (a) it was three weeks ago, and (b) it wasn't someone else, it was the same person. Way to repeat yourself. Not that I don't agree.

Geneforge 4 stuff. Also, everything I know about Avernum | Avernum 2 | Avernum 3 | Avernum 4

Kind of a backhanded compliment, though: "Other games suck so much I find myself coming back to Avernum." I prefer fronthanded compliments like "Avernum can suck at times but it has an irresistible charm to it that keeps me coming back even after playing far superior games."

I laughed for five minutes when I saw Micawber's edit.

What boggles me is how you heard nothing of the ho-humness of Fable back before it came to PC. And you got suckered into buying it.

If you want to impress us with your Spidweb loyalty, you'll have to do better than Fable.

*cough* Black & White *cough*

It's nothing at all like anything Spiderweb, but in a good way.

You should try Dungeon Master II.

PS: If you have a Mac and you want it, tell me.

Fun fact: Dungeon Master 2 is the only game I've ever bought that cost less than a blank CD. I'm pretty sure the vendor lost money just on the time it took the cashier to ring it up.

—Alorael, who would like to point out that Fable's having useless bells and whistles doesn't really make Spiderweb games' lack of bells and whistles superior. The implied but absent point is that Fable has nothing under the bells and whistles and Jeff manages to actually make games.

Dungeon Master looks like fun. But I don't have a Mac and I don't want Dosbox. Abandonia says it runs in XP, but with no sound. I'll thik about it.

I just got Oblivion and Planescape: Torment, so I'm a little busy right now.

You paid for it? I found it at an online shop at 15/20 $, but with a better search I managed to found a site where you can download it for free.

This is a fun fact. :D

The-underdogs.info has it for free. It's now abandonwere, and they have a java version. I might check that out.

Mmmm. Java.

I paid for it eight or nine years ago. At the time the absurdly low price was more than worth the time the phone line would have spent tied up on a 28.8k connection anyway.

—Alorael, who remembers buying another game along with DM2. Settlers II, maybe.
