I hope that those who will read this article will stop writing nonsense about piracy, etc. PS Ahh, yes, I have almost forget. Meh. If you're planning on preaching here, go somewhere else. And if you think this is unfair - kill yourself, save the Earth. Thank you. [ Wednesday, August 17, 2005 02:27: Message edited by: Drew ] Posts: 2242 | Registered: Saturday, April 10 2004 07:00 |

It's a long article but somewhat interesting reading. There's no need to use such language in your post, though. Posts: 950 | Registered: Thursday, October 4 2001 07:00 |

I'd take the time to read it, but an argument that hinges on "if you disagree, die" puts me off. I prefer to be convinced. On second thought I must admit that this is a highly intelligent article that is unjustifiably pulled into the mud by Itsuart's post. You shouldn't go into marketing, sir. Although you did prove the line "developers have egos". You're a programmer, right? Of course not, and Jeff Vogel is perfectly within his rights to prohibit the mention of hex editing and ban discussion of pirating his software. Not least because he is running these boards, and I can understand that he doesn't want to pay for people discussing how to steal from him. Note, also, that the article does not argue against the immorality/illegality of piracy, but rather against wasting overly much resources on fighting it. In fact, taking Jeff Vogel's response to a mail when I alerted him to a crack site, quote:It would appear that he has rather a similar stance. Itsuart, there's no need to be abusive to other members in the process of expressing your opinions. You've been warned about this before. While I'm tempted to let this topic live on the grounds that it has the potential to turn into an interesting discussion, it didn't start out very well and it really isn't appropriate for these forums.
