Zeviz, come on. You were around 21 at the time, and Alec around 14. There's a vast difference between 14 and 17, vaster than between 21 and 24, and you know that. If nothing else, give him the benefit of a doubt. I liked your campaigning, before you remembered your grudges. Why not return to that, you were good at it. -------------------- Polaris Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |

ef and TM, I ask you once again: Why is it ok for Alec to bring up his actions as a moderator on this board, but not ok for me to do the same thing? Reread the beginning of campaign thread. In every one of his posts Alec talks about his experience moderating this board. He is the one who kept bringing it up. However, when I reminded those who weren't around at the time what Alec actually did as a moderator, Alec, BtI and TM started attacking me personally. EDIT: I never attacked Alec personally. I never brought up anything he did before or after being a moderator here. The only thing I did was to remind people what Alec is referring to when he talks about his moderator experience here. I'd have to agree with Zeviz on this one. If this was a criminal trial instead of an election, Alec's past behavior would normally be deemed irrelevant and not admissible in court. However, he opened the door for this discussion of his moderatorial past. Objection overruled. You may continue your questioning of the defendant, Mr. McCoy. I know that you are being attacked. That's why I want you to come out of the trap of your passion. It hurts you and triggers emotion in others, who then fling it back to you, and you respond. Cool down. -------------------- Polaris Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |

quote:I take offense at that- worst (and, IIRC, the only) thing I did was a satire of your actions, which I maintain prove your lack of context for anything that's being said. My point is that you have no idea what you're talking about with Misc. Apart from the ages of the people involved, it was a different climate that you should have probably left to others who would have (and were in Djur's instance) taking care of it just fine. -------------------- 人 た ち を 燃 え る た め に 俺 は か れ ら に 火 を 上 げ る か ら 死 ん だ Posts: 6936 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

The "fagot" incident was clearly "communication... intended to harass, belittle, humiliate, threaten or cause embarrassment to a fellow member," and only the most literal-minded would claim that it wasn't "hate speech against a certain group of people, due to their religion, sex, sexual orientation, nationality, etc." There is leniency and there is negligence, and that would fall under the latter category. Everyone arguing otherwise is either pushing an agenda or forgetting the realities of the beginning of the problem because of the results. Linda's reaction was excessive in one case and ludicrous in another. That's not Zeviz' fault. Accusing him because he chose to consult rather than use his temporary admin position to impose punishments is questionable, especially when you then accuse him of having a grudge. If he wasn't impartial, shouldn't he have asked for a second opinion? —Alorael, who doesn't agree with the apparent repeat of Zeviz open season. Maybe it wasn't a great idea to drag up ancient history, but it was at least relevant. Zeviz' actions then were not criminal and not malicious. And everyone hearing the whole thing only now, everything has been so skewed by bias and time that you probably can't even tell what actually happened without careful post analysis and some healthy interpolation.
