Be quiet, Toenail. No, I doubt we'll ever get avatars on UBB anyway. Bandwidth on the server end is not the issue - remote-loading pictures does not strain the server, but only the user's connection. However, to give some control over filesize and content, it would be advisable to force the picture to be uploaded to the board itself. This would take diskspace, which is an issue. Note that these boards have been pruned several times for diskspace, and one forum taken down entirely, but rarely has anything been done about bandwidth. We had avatars before for a brief period. They caused too much slowdown in page loading time and were removed. Images in signatures would cause a very similar problem. —Alorael, who will admit that some degree of control over image size, both in dimensions and in bytes, would have drastically reduced the inconvenience.
