The comeback of MM just raised a question: who is the member #1? Is it Jeff? Does someone remember the answer, 'cause I don't. -------------------- Somebody PLEASE turn the heat on. Posts: 617 | Registered: Tuesday, April 13 2004 07:00 |

Incidentally, member #2 is Jeff's wife, registered as "Krizsan", but she invariably posts using the Spidweb account. Wow, Aran, you updated your list! Last time I looked it was only to 4100 and didn't include me. :( Yes, MM, we are to 5000 and quickly closing in on 6000. And 9/10 of those will probably never post again. -------------------- -ben4808 For those who love to spam: CSM Forums RIFQ Posts: 3360 | Registered: Friday, June 25 2004 07:00 |

That would mean everyone in the world had an average of 15 accounts. :P I want to know what program Aran used to list all those names. -------------------- -ben4808 For those who love to spam: CSM Forums RIFQ Posts: 3360 | Registered: Friday, June 25 2004 07:00 |

quote:I was attempting to pre-emptively head off further queries. :P quote:Not fully automatic actually. I have to press a button, and copy-paste the list into Excel and do a whole lot of other tedious stuff with it. quote:That would mean there are currently less than ten million people living in the world. This should be a suspiciously low number to anyone. If you mean the programs I used to process it, Excel and Dreamweaver. The program to gather the stuff has no name; I made it myself. It is also crappy. Edit: Assuming that account registration doesn't speed up too much over time (an invalid assumption - part of the new accounts are multiple sign-ups, and thus a function of existing accounts), we'd have that fateful last member on the 30th of June in the year 70494. Not accounting for leap years. [ Tuesday, April 26, 2005 04:24: Message edited by: Day of Wrath, day of Tears ] -------------------- The Encyclopaedia Ermariana <-- Now a Wiki! The member that breaks the UBB's back will undoubtedly be part of the burst of new members after Avernum 1.445x10^39 is released. —Alorael, who will point out that the UBB could be broke just by Americans joining. Not only is the numbe required well under the world's population, it's also only one fifth of the number of people with computers and internet access, which is a more relevant measurement. The list is well over a month old. I have since gathered new data (see "99% of all statistics..."), but haven't had the time to replace it on that site because, as I said, I have to fiddle tediously with it to get it into html format. I guess I'll put that up today or tomorrow. -------------------- The Encyclopaedia Ermariana <-- Now a Wiki! Ooh, yikes, I read Alo's post wrong when I made that 15 account prediction. If it had been 100 billion, as I first thought the post said, my estimate would be much closer to accurate. Sorry. Oh, but Alo, I would like to mention that the "Click here to look up member #1" link has a UBB typo and doesn't work. This is what you were meaning.
