It's been a long time since I've been here really. Last time I really was here, misc had just gone. When will misc be back? Spidweb could always change hosts. I think djur said they could get a lot more bandwidth for money.

And what boards sprang up as a replacement to misc?

Hallo UA. Misc is dead, and Gen is a quieter place than Misc was.

*sigh* I feared misc wasn't going 'temporarily' after all. So there's nothing, nowhere anyone went, they just stopped posting what they used to post in misc?

I was just reading that old topic where I was a control freak that I had a backup, you know, the spiderprise, aka Around the universe however long it takes..heh. That's so old. Really takes me back.

Yes, I saw that...But what happened to all those other InvisionFree/EzBoard ad-filled boards, that tried to replace misc? IMAGE(Spiderweb Software Boards Misc_files/tongue.gif) I could set up a board as misc, if anyone wanted it, though I doubt they would.

Well, Djur put up a section for Misc. on Desp, but meh, it didn't work out.
Then, Thuryl did the same with his ezBoard, but we all know the popularity of ad-filled ezBoards.

There are still many boards that SW-members use as a place to chat miscellaneous things, just like before.

Desp, Webeacon (Polaris), TCOA..

Thing is, I could set up one without ANY ads on it at all. And I think it likely that it didn't work on desp because of the general insanity there. As for Polaris, and TCOA, care to link me?

Eh, not much point setting up a misc board when there are already two, one with their own domain.

If anyone is interested, post here. I'll give well-known popular members adminship. IMAGE(Spiderweb Software Boards Misc_files/tongue.gif)

I'd also generally be able to run a very up to date board, and I might even be able (don't get your hopes up though) to skin it a bit like the old Ikonboard 2.x or this UBB to give it that nice old feel.

I find community boards to be kinda asinine. After all, these boards provide pretty much everything except the ability to throw around innuendos and swears, and plenty of us ignore those rules anyway.

We're all amazed but not amused
By all the things that you said you'd do.
You're much concerned but not involved by
Decisions that are made by you
But we are sick and tired of hearing your song,
Telling us how you are going to change right from wrong,
'Cause if you really want to hear our views,
You haven't done nothin'.

'tis just not the same. And if Misc were brought back, could it be Misc again?

Perhaps we should just keep misc in our hearts and memories, and let the dead dog rest in peace..

Polaris is pretty slow lately, although we have bunches of members, we all post too infrequently. So, uhhh, if you want to stop by and add to the population, we wouldn't mind... IMAGE(Spiderweb Software Boards Misc_files/wink.gif)

IN THIS TOPIC TGM DOES NOT TELL THE TRUTH

Though things may have changed since I last posted at Polaris. It's been a while.

There's no need for Misc. All one really needs to do is to remove Alorael's modship powers for Galactic Core or alternatively set up a Lost Souls/Ocean Bound/Homeland board with the same basic criteria.

Of course, this is also a very good reason not to have a Misc forum at all.

It's more fun to have erratic moderation in a forum where nobody cares. Besides, many of those topics would have been locked even on Misc.

—Alorael, who is in accord with Morgan. TGM is indeed lying. You may not always want to post, especially in the abuse forums, but you have the right and the ability to do so.

I wouldn't call it erratic moderation. Erratic moderation would have been letting those topics live.

However, in their defence the topics do perform three useful functions:
1) They provive a stage to remember the hirsute or moustached figures of earlier times.
2) They are fairly good history lessons underneath the incoherency.
3) Anything that distracts Alec from selling his body on the streets has to be a good thing.

The erraticism is in the threads I don't lock, not those I do.

—Alorael, who has to admit he enjoys showing off his locked topic collection. It's a good conversation piece.

o.O Do you put them on plaques on the walls or something? I can just imagine that... a wall full of sniped topic trophies... with... with... AHH I CAN'T SAY ANYMORE!

By the way, in this topic TGM does tell the truth, just not in that post.

Like the time I returned after few months of absence, posted in two topics, and was accused of spamming my ass out?

Yes, members ARE allowed to post, I must agree, now that I've seen the light.
