I am having a problem with my explorer program. Does anyone have any recommendations on who to contact in order to get my problem fixed for free? I have searched the web and Microsoft's database and have found nothing that will help solve my problem. Whenever I open Explorer (not iexplore) a stack fault in kernel32.dll occurs. -------------------- How do signature's work? -Keep Posts: 1415 | Registered: Thursday, March 27 2003 08:00 |

you could do this by yourself: FORMAT [INSERT DRIVE LETTER] becose it would seem that your windows is little bit broken becose kernel32.dll is part of the windows core so it might produce other bad effects if it is broken -------------------- I am the one and only Wizard! Or, better yet, you could stab yourself in the penis with a screwdriver. A kernel32 error is usually easier to fix than formatting it, I think. Ask someone who knows what they're doing, I guess. And if it doesn't hurt you that much, go without it? -------------------- In a word, gay. --Bob the Impaler Posts: 2367 | Registered: Friday, June 27 2003 07:00 |

Um, going without Windows Explorer is a tiny bit impractical. -------------------- I believe there are 15 747 724 136 275 002 577 105 653 961 181 555 468 044 717 914 527 116 709 366 231 425 076 185 631 031 296 protons in the universe, and the same number of electrons. -- Sir Arthur Eddington Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

First thing I'd try would probably be overinstalling Windows. (don't know, if you use that expression: not deinstall anything, but overinstall in the hope that that will fix the problem of corrupted or missing files) -------------------- Polaris Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |

A simple solution would be to use internet explorer instead; it can actually open folders and stuff as well (or use the dos command prompt if you can handle that). Other than that, well, windows has a tendency of corrupting itself over time (generally after a year and a half or so). You may be able to solve things by wiping your TEMP directory and uninstalling every piece of software you're not actually using (you'd be amazed as to what gets on your computer after awhile). If that doesn't work I'd go for deleting then re-installing windows. Because in my experience overinstalling doesn't work but ymmv. -------------------- Freude, schöner Götterfunken, Tochter aus Elysium, Wir betreten feuertrunken, Himmlische, dein Heilighthum! Internet Explorer runs out of explorer, so it doesn't work either. Can anyone tell me who I could E-mail for help to fix my problem for free, though? -------------------- How do signature's work? -Keep Posts: 1415 | Registered: Thursday, March 27 2003 08:00 |

Does the start menu appear? If so, click 'run' and type 'iexplore' to open Internet Explorer without going through explorer. If you've got WinXP, a similar button is available on the close programs window. -E- -------------------- Let them eat cake! Polaris Boards: The System is Up. Perennially. I mean iexplore is very similar to explorer and shares the problem. Go into explorer and then type in a web address and the window instantly becomes an internet explorer window. Open a web page and type in a system drive, and the explorer interface comes up. -------------------- How do signature's work? -Keep Posts: 1415 | Registered: Thursday, March 27 2003 08:00 |

I also recommend reformatting your hard drive. You’ll be impressed by how FAST and SPEEDFUL your COMPUTAR MACHEIENE can be without all the crap on it. -------------------- ~ §øСüm©ÿªñ¡Ðë ~ Mission Ridge -- All Your Snow Are Belong to Us. Posts: 1277 | Registered: Monday, June 24 2002 07:00 |

You could try mailing support@microsoft.com but it's unlikely that they still answer questions for win'98. They'd probably tell you to upgrade to XP (which is not a good idea on an older computer anyway) -------------------- Freude, schöner Götterfunken, Tochter aus Elysium, Wir betreten feuertrunken, Himmlische, dein Heilighthum! My computer isn't that slow, but it can't handle any new games. I think it actually costs around $30 in order to get Microsoft's "expert" answers. I could buy another spiderweb game for that much! But who do you think I can reliably E-mail to have my problem fixed. I don't want to E-mail someone like haxorsupport@hotmail.com or something like that. -------------------- How do signature's work? -Keep Posts: 1415 | Registered: Thursday, March 27 2003 08:00 |
